What to Know
The TLC reality series Counting On, which is a spinoff of 19 Kids and Counting, has been pulled from HBO Max in the wake of Joseph Duggar’s arrest on child molestation charges. Joseph appeared on both Counting On, which aired from 2015 to 2020, and the original series 19 Kids and Counting, which aired from 2008 to 2015. Both shows followed Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their large family of children and grandchildren. The Duggar family is known for their Christian fundamentalist faith and conservative values.
Us Weekly reported that Counting On is no longer available on HBO Max as of Friday, March 27. The show’s removal comes after Joseph, 31, was arrested earlier this month and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Joseph is accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020 while on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. The girl, now 14, recently came forward to disclose several alleged incidents involving Duggar.
In a March 18 Facebook post, Florida’s Bay County Sheriff’s Office said the victim claims Joseph “repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap.” When she sat next to him on a couch, he allegedly “covered them with a blanket” and “manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals.”
The sheriff’s office said Joseph “admitted his actions to the victim’s father” and to detectives.
Joseph’s wife, Kendra Duggar, was arrested two days after his arrest. She was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment. A spokesperson for the family told People that Kendra’s charges are “totally unrelated” to her husband’s child molestation charges.
“She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime,” the spokesperson said.
Joseph and Kendra got married in 2017. They seemingly share four children, although they have not publicly announced the birth of a fourth child.
While Counting On was only recently removed from HBO Max, 19 Kids and Counting has been unavailable to stream for years. TLC suspended the original series in 2015 following reports that Joseph’s brother Josh Duggar had molested five girls, including some of his sisters, as a teenager.
“As a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Josh, now 38, said in a statement to People at the time. “I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions.”

Josh’s actions were also the reason for the cancellation of Counting On. TLC axed the series after Josh was arrested on child pornography charges in 2021. He was found guilty of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse materials that December. Josh was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in prison and is currently incarcerated.
Some of the other Duggar siblings have spoken out in the wake of the family’s latest scandal: Joseph’s arrest.
“What has come out about my brother is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing,” Joy-Anna Duggar, 28, wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, March 26. “My heart is with the victim, and I am grieved by the pain and harm caused. I have been a wreck this week and am taking time to process.”
Jason Duggar, 25, and his wife, Maddie, released a joint Instagram statement.
“We, like many, have spent the week completely shocked, confused, and grieved to list a few emotions,” the statement read. “We are disgusted to hear the news about my brother, however, this isn’t about how it’s impacted our lives. Our hearts are burdened because a child’s life has been turned upside down due to evil actions of someone who should have never hurt the vulnerable. This is something unthinkable.”
