Dean held nothing back during the interview.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Dean revealed that he spent 40 days in rehab and is now living in a sober living house with eight other recovering addicts. He said he has not seen or spoken to Tori since his Instagram post.

"All Tori's ever done to this day is want me to be happy and healthy and I inflicted a lot of damage and pain on that woman," he explained. "I'm taking accountability for that today. And it's the biggest amend that I'm ever going to have to make."

The former couple's reported money struggles happened right from the beginning.

He also shared that money troubles plagued the couple from the beginning of their relationship. They married shortly before Tori's father, millionaire TV producer Aaron Spelling, died. Tori only received $800,000 as an inheritance, but Dean insisted that she never expected more.

But he did admit, "It was a financial pressure for us because we were starting out in our relationship and neither one of us brought a lot to the table."

Dean revealed a struggle with drugs and alcohol that spanned decades of his life.

Dean got honest about his addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs and how he experienced "isolation," "brokenness," and "anger and yelling."

"Alcohol made me feel good enough. I started feeling good enough until it got to a point where it didn't — it ended up in isolation," he said. "It ended up with me drinking a fifth of tequila every night, seven days a week, and a handful of narcos by myself with a beautiful family in the other room."

He hit his lowest point over the summer, leading to the end of his marriage.

His alcoholism and that infamous Instagram post were the thing that ultimately led to the demise of his marriage to Tori. "I would wake up angry that I woke up and I have these five, six beautiful kids in my life, but I was so dark and hopeless, I couldn't see that," he said.

He revealed that after the Instagram post, Tori told him that he needed to seek professional treatment, helping him find the rehab program where he spent 40 days over the summer. "She came from just such a place of love and wanting me to be healthy and happy," he shared.

He hasn't seen his family since June, but he's hopeful for the future.

Dean's stint in rehab coincided with Tori and their children being forced to move out of their home due to a life-threatening mold infestation. Tori and their children spent months moving from place to place, without any sort of help from her mother Candy Spelling, according to Dean.

"Tori's very resourceful. She's a survivor. She always lands on her feet. And like I said, she is one of the hardest working people I've ever met," he said.
