In Resurfaced Video From 1999, Diddy Said He’d Probably Be Arrested for His Parties

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on September 17 and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. An unsealed federal indictment revealed more details. Following Combs’ arrest, multiple videos in which Combs and other celebrities discussed his infamous parties resurfaced. Per the indictment, Combs allegedly coordinated “freak-offs,” or “elaborate and produced sex performances.” He reportedly used “force, threats of force and coercion to cause victims to engage in extended sex acts with male commercial sex workers.” In one resurfaced video, Combs seemed to predict that his infamous parties would one day lead to his arrest.

In 1999, Combs said 'you're gonna hear about my parties.'

Combs spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his parties in 1999. At the time, he predicted that his parties would be shut down and that he would be arrested. In light of recent events, the comments are raising red flags. During the resurfaced interview, Combs claimed that “they won’t even give me a permit for the parties, man. They don’t want me to throw the parties no more. But we ain’t gonna stop, we gonna keep on having fun.”

What he said next is especially eerie now. “You’re gonna hear about my parties, they’re gonna be shuttin’ ’em down,” he said at the time. “They’re gonna probably be arresting me, doing all types of crazy things just ‘cause we wanna have a good time.”

He said a lot of people felt 'intimidated' by his parties.

Combs continued by saying that some people were “intimidated” by his parties. It was simply because some people are intimidated by things that “broaden people’s horizons,” he claimed at the time.

Whenever you bring up a different element into people’s environment, things that broaden people’s horizons, people get intimidated. It’s a lot of people out there that feel intimidated by it,” Combs said during the interview. “It ain’t nothing but breaking down racial barriers, breaking down generation barriers.”

He added that his parties were for “people from all walks of life connecting and gettin’ together.”

Combs said he felt like he knew 'how to throw a party.'

During the 1999 Entertainment Tonight interview, the reporter asked Combs about how he felt knowing that his parties were so popular at the time. He told the reporter that he didn’t feel like he was special or better than other people. “It just makes me feel like I know how to throw a party,” he said.

Other comments Combs made about his parties have also resurfaced.

The 1999 video seems strange in hindsight. But comments that Combs made about his parties in a resurfaced video from 2002 even sounded suspicious at the time (at least Conan O’Brien seemed to think so). In conversation with O’Brien, Combs said, “I don’t know if guys have noticed this but a lot of ladies drink water at parties, so if you don’t have what they need, they’re gonna leave. Gotta keep them there. Need locks on the doors.”

O’Brien responded with, “this is sounding kinda dangerous now.” At the time, Combs acknowledged that his parties were sometimes “kinky.”

In another resurfaced video about Combs' parties, Ashton Kutcher said he had a lot of stories that he couldn't share.

Previous comments from other celebrities have also raised alarm bells. Ashton Kutcher was asked about Combs’ parties while on Hot Ones in 2019. Asked if he had any stories to share, the actor said, “I’ve got a lot I can’t tell.” He racked his brain for Combs party stories that he could share on the show, but couldn’t come up with any. “Can’t tell that one either. … I’m actually cycling through them. Diddy party stories, man, that was some weird memory lane thing,” he said in the resurfaced video.
