Dominic West may currently be known for playing Prince Charles on the Netflix show The Crown, but there is one member of the royal family who won’t show him much love: Prince Harry. The prince’s issues with the actor, however, have nothing to do with his role. Dominic and the Duke of Sussex participated in a charity trip to Antarctica ten years ago. Although they were close during their time in the frigid location, their friendship quickly fell apart after their return. A decade later, Dominic is shedding more light onto what he thinks went wrong between the two, and it looks like he was at fault for the rift.

Dominic and Prince Harry shared a very unique experience.
Dominic recently did an interview with Times Radio, and spoke about when he and Harry participated in the race through Antarctica with the charity Walking with the Wounded. The charity supports former British Armed Forces service members as they make the transition back into civilian life.
Kate McCann, the show’s host, asked Dominic if he was in contact with Harry about portraying his father on The Crown because they did the expedition together.
Dominic admitted that he may have said 'too much' during a press conference.
When the host asked if he still had Harry's number, the answer was a big "No."
"No, we sort of, um … no. I said too much in a press conference, and so we didn't speak after that," Dominic shared. "I think I was asked what we did, what we did to celebrate when we got there and probably said something too much."
He revealed that Harry told naughty jokes and allegedly drank out of an unusual item.

Dominic didn’t elaborate in the interview, but it was likely he was referring to the post-trek press conference where he may have let too many things slip about the royal. Multiple news outlets, including People, reported that at the time, he shared that Harry told “eye-wateringly rude jokes. For the non-soldier like me, it was quite shocking.”
He also claimed that the young prince drank champagne out of the prosthetic leg of a fellow participant. "Most of us, Harry included, just went on a two-day bender with the Icelandic truck drivers who had brought some lethal home brew with them," he revealed.
Prince Harry felt the stories revealed too much.
According to the Daily Mail, a friend of Dominic’s told the newspaper in 2022 that "Harry threw a s— fit."
"He accused Dominic of invading his privacy. Dominic told him not to be ridiculous. They haven't spoken since," the source said, adding that the royal refuses to associate with anyone who is friends with Dominic.

West read Prince Harry's memoir in preparation for the current season of 'The Crown'

Even though the actor is no longer in touch with Harry, that didn’t stop him from reading Harry’s memoir Spare in the name of research. In an interview with Variety, Dominic called having access to the book a "gift."
"I know Peter didn’t read Harry’s book," he said, referring to the show’s creator, Peter Morgan. "I certainly did. I bought it immediately, and I think it did slightly affect the way we played that key scene where he wakes Harry up. I don’t think it really affected anything that Peter had written."
