Halle Berry Slams Drake for Using Photo of Her as Single’s Cover Art Without Permission

Halle Berry is mad and she’s not shy about telling the world why. On social media, the actress subtly called out Drake with a quote she shared to social media before later clarifying that her post was a response to something the singer did that made her furious.

Halle slams Drake over the cover art for his new single.

The drama started when Drake announced a new single featuring SZA for his forthcoming album For All the Dogs by sharing what appeared to be the single’s cover art.

Drake used an image of Halle covered in green slime from the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards to tease his song “Slime You Out.”

On Instagram, Drake shared the photo of Halle to promote his new song.

He didn’t give a whole lot of context to the image other than it had the “Parental Advisory” sticker on it and he tagged SZA.

The caption was just two emojis, the green heart and the flushed face emoji. And given the name of the new single, it’s pretty clear this was used as a promotional image for the song’s release.

Halle saw it and responded with a cryptic quote on Instagram.

On Instagram, Halle posted a quote in white text on a light purple background. It read: “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you’re a woman!”

For the caption, she added a hand emoji with the finger pointing up. The image didn’t address Drake directly, but when a commenter asked about it, Halle spoke up.

According to BuzzFeed, Halle answered a comment and called out the singer.

The website reported that someone asked Halle, “What are your thoughts of Drake using that picture of you for his single?” and she replied saying she was not happy at all.

“Didn’t get my permission,” Halle responded. “That’s not cool. I thought better of him!”

In another comment she wrote, “Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on!”

Halle felt that Drake using the image without asking her permission was disrespectful.

Several people in the comment section didn’t understand why Halle was so upset with Drake using the image without asking.

But more people came to her defense.

“Gaining permission from others is always important when using anything that’s theirs (including their image and likeness),” one commenter wrote. “It’s sad that people often disregard the value of respect and courtesy.”

“I truly cannot understand how on earth anyone thinks it's okay to use not only a picture of someone else, without their consent, but such a high profile woman such as Halle Berry,” wrote another person. “It's so disrespectful, hurtful, a slap in the face.”

Halle just wants people to be more respectful.

One commenter suggested Halle “take him to court,” meaning Drake, but Halle just wants respect.

“I'm not interested in suing my people,” Halle responded, according to BuzzFeed. “I just wish these men out here would give women the respect we deserve."

So far, Drake hasn’t responded.
