‘Harry Potter’ Actress Says She Was Not Invited to Convention Due to Her OnlyFans

The actress who portrayed Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films was allegedly not invited to a Harry Potter convention because she creates content on OnlyFans. Interestingly, the actress, Jessie Cave, does not actually share sexually explicit content, but the fact that she shares the content via OnlyFans was enough to get her barred from the event.

The 38-year-old actress, who is also a mom of four, started a hair-focused OnlyFans to make extra money earlier this year. In an April 2025 Substack post, she wrote that she was “really enjoying” the platform. At the same time, she also admitted she felt “a sense of shame” for starting an account — not necessarily because of what the platform is best known for, but because of what it signaled about her finances and career success.

It’s proof of my failure to make (or rather, keep hold of) money as an actress and writer,” she wrote at the time, per Us Weekly. “I’ve got nothing to show for 18 years of work in the arts industry. I’ve rented for 18 years and drained all my money on that and self-funding my YouTube videos or Edinburgh shows.”

Based on a more recent post, it sounds like her OnlyFans account has impacted her career in other ways as well. Recently, she wrote, “I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn,'” per The Hollywood Reporter.

The logic didn’t really make sense to her given that many actors film sexual content all the time. “This was baffling to me as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity,” she continued. “I’m just playing with my hair (on OnlyFans)!”

Though it sounds like being barred from Harry Potter conventions surprised her, she noted that she’s “not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions.” She added, “There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”

Previously, she described doing OnlyFans as “quite liberating,” per the New York Post. “I do get lots of interest in the hair thing, and I just thought, [expletive] it, I’m gonna do something that is very niche,” she explained on Instagram. “…I really am choosing to think of this as an empowering moment for me, because I have been this very kind of straight, prim actress for a lot of my career.”

When promoting her account, she made it clear that her content was not sexually explicit. “I do NICHE HAIR CONTENT which you may well quite like. How magical!” she wrote. “Owl drop near daily. Wizard warning: Will not do explicit sexual content. Might be in my underwear.”

Still, in another Substack post, she described receiving sexually explicit messages and requests for nude content. “I’ve become dependent on the money coming in, it really is addictive once you start making it,” she wrote, per Us Weekly. “So, I’ve been hurt and upset that I’ve lost these subs even though I was clear about what I was offering — I have been made to feel I’ve cheated these men even though I thought I stated it so clearly.”

In an Instagram post on September 12, the actress wrote, “Happy 6 months to me on only fanz 🎈🎈🎈🥊🥊🥊 the most empowering thing I’ve done in my life. I’m grateful.”
