Dozens of people are dead because of the wildfires ravaging Maui and the Big Island.
The entire town of Lahaina has been decimated as the wildfires continue to spread in the area due to dry conditions and winds up to 60 mph coming from Hurricane Dora. Homes and businesses have been destroyed, and according to the Washington Post, at least 55 people are dead as a result of the fires.
Now, Jason is speaking out.
As a Hawaii native who is constantly talking about the islands — along with his conservation efforts — it's no surprise this matter is something that the former Game of Thrones star would feel particularly passionately about.
He reposted an infographic that explained what is happening, writing, "We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and 'ohana on Maui who been impacted by the recent wildfires."
He's also sharing ways to help.
In a separate post, Jason shared more resources to help those who have been displaced after the fires, including how those who are local (or know someone who is) can help locate their family members.
On his Instagram Stories he also shared a post from an organization encouraging people not to book a hotel stay in Hawaii so those rooms will remain available to those who have lost their homes.
The damage in Hawaii is extremely widespread.
In this satellite image from CNN, we can see the grave difference in Lahaina before and after the fires, and it's heartbreaking to think of how much destruction has been caused.
NBC News has reported that this will likely be considered the largest natural disaster in the state's history.
