Jelly Roll has admitted to having an affair on his wife, Bunnie Xo, calling it one of the worst moments of his life.
The country music star confessed to cheating, an event that led to a brief split in his marriage in 2018, during a recent interview on the Human School podcast.
“I don’t talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” the singer said on the podcast.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, also said his social circle was the main catalyst for his poor behavior.
“I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives,” he said. “When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people that were doing cocaine. When I was drinking a lot, I was hanging around a lot of people that were drinking a lot.”
Jelly Roll, who said he is now sober from hard drugs, admitted he used to take pride in the length of his friendships, even with what he called “horrible humans.”
The “Son of a Sinner” singer has since changed his philosophy to wanting “to be friends with people I wanted to be like.”
Jelly Roll met Bunnie Xo in 2015 and married a year later. After their 2018 separation, they reunited that same year and renewed their wedding vows in 2023. Jelly Roll said the work to mend their relationship has been successful.
“The repair has been special. And we’re stronger than we could have ever been,” he said on the podcast.
Bunnie Xo who hosts the “Dumb Blond” podcast, has also spoken about the difficult period. In a February 2023 TikTok post, she reflected on their journey.
“Who knew that us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back — would have put us on this wild journey called life,” she wrote. “Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground.”
