Jeremy Renner Remains in Critical Condition After 2 Surgeries Following Snowplow Accident

This actor and Marvel franchise star is in critical condition after a serious accident on New Year's Day that has led to traumatic injuries and major blood loss. Jeremy Renner was in a snowplow accident on Sunday that required him to be airlifted to the hospital, and now more details are coming out about what may have happened.

On Sunday, Jeremy was in an accident while plowing snow in Nevada.

Deadline was the first to report that the 51-year-old actor suffered "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries" while plowing that morning.

In a statement to the news outlet, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said Jeremy was in "critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather related accident while plowing snow earlier today."

Quick-responding neighbors may have saved his life.

According to what witnesses told TMZ, Jeremy was using his Snowcat (which he has posted about on social media before) to clear the roads in front of his Lake Tahoe home after a New Year's Eve snowstorm came through the area. The machine ended up running over one of his legs, and his neighbor, who happens to be a doctor, was able to use a tourniquet to help control the bleeding until first responders arrived.

The safety features on the plow should have made an accident like this impossible, leaving a lot of questions about what might have happened.

He was taken into surgery on Monday.

The actor's rep told People that Jeremy had come out of surgery on Monday night and was continuing to recover in the ICU.

It also sounds like he has plenty of support at this time, since his rep added, "his family is with him and he is receiving excellent care."

Jeremy has one child from his former marriage to Sonni Pacheco, a 9-year-old daughter named Ava Berlin.

His family has issued a statement as he recovers.

"Jeremy's family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families," read their statement to People, via his rep. "They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."

Here's hoping we get an update on his condition soon.

TMZ reported that on the night of the accident, his Snowcat plow had been towed away as investigators try to figure out exactly how this happened.

We can't imagine how scary this must be for his loved ones, but it sounds like Jeremy is being well taken care of.
