Mom of 2 Jessica Biel Soaked in 20 Pounds of Epsom Salt To Prepare for Her Met Gala Gown

Jessica Biel is giving her fans the key to her flawless red carpet looks. Jessica stunned at the 2024 Met Gala on May 6, and she had one secret weapon at her disposal: an Epsom salt bath. While some celebs use makeup or other tricks to be red-carpet ready, Jessica used an everyday item that you can find in most drugstores: Epsom salt! OK, so to achieve her desired results, she had to use a lot of it … but this is the Met Gala we're talking about, so if there's ever a time to go a little overboard on prep, this is it!

Jessica was ready to relax.

In a TikTok video, Jessica shared that instead of going out the night before the famed Met Gala, she was staying in and preparing for the festivities.

"I know some people like to party before Met ball, and party all weekend and all the things, and I have total respect for that. This is what I do to get ready for Met ball," she said, showing off multiple bags of Dr. Teal’s Epsom salt.

Yes, she really used five bags of Epsom salt.

"Four, eight, twelve, sixteen, twenty pounds of Epsom salt in a bath," she said, counting each already open bag. "Here we go, for real." Jessica then proceeds to pour each bag in tub full "with water as hot as you can take it."

"30 minute soak night before," Jessica said, adding that she would drink plenty of water before going to bed early.

People had a lot of opinions about her ritual.

And many of them seemed to think that it was an expensive one.

"Girl, cost of living doesn't even afford us table salt these days let alone bags of Epsom Salts," one person commented.

"That’s like $150," another person added.

Not quite! A 4-pound bag of Dr. Teal's Epsom salt will set you back about $8, so Jessica's treatment was probably in the neighborhood of about $40.

An Epsom salt bath can be very relaxing.

Other people joked about the amount of salt she used and how relaxed Jessica was going to be while attending the event.

"Epsom salt baths knock me out," one comment read. "I would sleep for a week after that."

"How are you able to MOVE?!?!" someone wondered. "And get out of the tub with all that salt, I’d be jello."

"Sometimes I put in 1 whole bag and I think I’m WILD," someone else added.

What are the benefits of taking an Epsom salt bath?

Many people in the comments wondered what the benefit of taking such a bath was. According to what Solomon David, MD, a colorectal surgeon at NYU Langone Health, told USA Today last year, Epsom salt baths can be used "to relieve muscle aches, tension, stress, and promote overall well-being."
