Jill Duggar Divides Fans With Political Statement Ahead of Election

Although Jill Duggar grew up as the rule-abiding golden child of her family, she has evolved into somewhat of a rebel. She was one of the first siblings to wear pants and to challenge her parents over fair payment for 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. She also uses birth control, has a pierced nose, and wrote a tell-all book her parents didn’t agree with. Most recently, however, Jill Duggar divided fans with a political statement ahead of the election.

Jill, 33, married Derick Dillard in 2014. Since then, they’ve welcomed three children. Israel was born in 2015, Samuel arrived in 2017, and Freddy was born in 2022. The busy mom continues to share photos and videos of her personal life on her Instagram grid. But followers were torn when she got political just days before Election Day.

Jill Duggar sent a political message in late October.

On October 31, Jill took to Instagram with a political message for her followers.

“For both @derickdillard and I growing up, the election season was always a fun time for us as we frequented political events and watch parties (as kids, the incentives for us were mostly staying up later than normal & eating all the great party foods…chips & dips and filling up on leftover cheesecake),” she wrote. “But now it’s just fun showing our kiddos what it’s all about!”

In the photos, they rocked 'I Voted Early' stickers.

In the main photo, Jill and Derick posed while smiling and wearing “I Voted Early” stickers. Another shot showed Derick facing away from the camera while holding hands with Freddy. Samuel and Israel were also nearby as they headed toward a brick building (presumably where Jill and Derrick voted).

For the final image, Jill sat in her vehicle with her voting sticker on her thumb while flashing a smile. She included the follower hashtags in her update: “#weearlyvoted #govote #freedomisntfree #election2024 #voteearly #gomerica #grateful #thankful #GodblessAmerica #americanpride🇺🇸 @intendtolive.”

Many folks hoped the Dillards voted for Kamala Harris.

Jill did not specify whether she voted for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in her post. Instagram users on both sides of the political aisle, however, voiced their opinions in the comments.

One person wrote, “With the reflection you’ve been doing on your faith journey, I hope you voted for the most Christ-like candidate of the two, Kamala Harris.”

Someone else shared, “Voted for true freedom! 🇺🇸💙 Trump is nothing close to a Christian.”

Yet another Instagram user agreed, writing, “May the team with the most wholesome character qualities win. #harriswalz 💙.”

Others voiced their support for Trump.

Still, plenty of Instagram users commented in support of Trump, with one person writing, “Trump 2024🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️ Trump does not deny Jesus like Kamala did in front of hundreds of people! Trump has Gods favor! ❤️🇺🇸🙏🏼.”

Someone else shared, “MAGA 🙌 Trump is not as bad as the media portrays him to be. I watched all 5.5 hrs of the rally and all I saw was freedom, love and inclusivity.”

Another commented, “Trump 2024 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸and I’m a proud Christian.”

Meanwhile, another Instagram user pointed out, “They dressed as garbage for Halloween, as many MAGA did this year. Unfollowed. At least they picked accurate costumes.”

For Halloween, Jill and Derick dressed as garbage and a garbage lady — which many took as support for Trump.

In 2016, Derick voiced his support for Trump in the comments of a post encouraging people to vote, according to Us Weekly. It’s likely (but unconfirmed) that he and Jill voted the same way for 2024 — especially considering their choice of Halloween costumes. Jill posted a video via Instagram of her family dressed up for Halloween and in it, she dressed up as a “garbage lady” while Derick was “garbage.”

As Instagram users pointed out in the comments, many Trump supporters dressed as garbage to imitate Donald Trump Jr.’s 2024 Halloween costume. The move came after President Joe Biden called comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s supporters “garbage” following Hinchcliffe’s controversial statement labeling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” at Trump’s New York rally on October 27.
