Jinger Duggar grew up in front of the camera with her family’s reality TV show. She didn’t get to choose when she was little whether she wanted to have a public life, but now that she’s older, she has kids of her own and has unpacked some struggles in her life as a result of being so exposed as a young kid.
Now she’s choosing different for her kids.
On December 2, Jinger took to Instagram Stories and answered some questions from her fans and followers. She doesn’t do this a whole lot, and we’re guessing there were several questions to choose from.
Jinger answered several questions on things such as her religion, her favorite Christmas memory, her marriage, and her kids.
One fan asked her directly why she’s stopped sharing photos and videos of her kids online.
Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, have two children: 4-year-old Felicity and 3-year-old Evangeline. When Felicity was very young, the parents would share photos and videos of their little girl. At that time, Jinger was on the family’s second reality TV show, Counting On.
But when that show ended and Jeremy and Jinger moved themselves and their kids from Arkansas to Los Angeles, they stopped posting photos of their kids.
From time to time, we still see them pop up in their social feeds, but never their faces.
There have been a few images since of their daughters, but they always are from behind or something else is obscuring their faces.
It’s made fans angry at some point (seriously, reading the comments are a little strange with people getting mad they can’t see their faces), but Jinger hasn’t wavered.
And now she’s opening up about the reason behind her decision to not put her kids out there on social media any longer.
A fan asked: “What made you decide to no longer show your kiddos faces?! Love that you did that!” and Jinger replied via Instagram Stories, which were saved and shared on Reddit, along with a piece of artwork one of her kids made.
“We wanted to give our sweet girls privacy,” she explained. “If they choose to be in the public eye when they grow up, that would be just fine.”
For them as parents, the good didn’t outweigh the bad.
“We just saw more cons than pros when it comes to everyone knowing everything about them,” she explained. “Social media is a great place to share what's happening, but we also want to protect and keep our kiddos safe! So appreciate your understanding and kind words.”
Other questions she was asked that she answered were interesting, too.
One fan asked Jinger how she and Jeremy find alone time together, which she replied like most parents with little kids: They sneak it in where and when they can. She explained they like to play card games, and when they do have a babysitter, they enjoy getting to spend that time together.
Jinger also shared her top three favorite TV shows right now, and they’re a little unexpected. But, when you think about it a little more, she wasn’t able to watch TV when she was growing up, which explains the top two favorite shows being older ones.
Her top three favorites right now are Seinfeld, Gilmore Girls, and Pawn Stars.
