Johnny Depp Gets Candid About His Future in Rare Interview for New Movie

Two years after a defamation case that divided social media, it looks like Johnny Depp is finally putting the past behind him. The actor has several new movie projects on the horizon and according to people close to him, he’s in a "better headspace" now that he is able to move on and have a fresh start.

In 2022, Johnny and ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, were battling it out in court during a defamation case in Virginia that became tabloid fodder that was constantly rehashed on social media as the trial played out on the public stage. He now has a new movie out, and it looks like he's focusing on his creative projects to find connection and joy.

"He is prioritizing his health and well-being much more these days," a source close to Johnny told People. "People were loving his look for the Jeanne du Barry UK premiere. He got a new haircut, he looked polished and clean-cut. He’s lost weight. He’s feeling and looking healthier."

The source added that Johnny is "taking advantage of being in this better headspace. There’s a lot of good energy, and he surrounds himself with a good group of people."

He has been promoting his new movie.

Johnny’s new film, Jeanne du Barry, is being released in US movie theaters this weekend. The source claims that he is "very excited" for more people to see the French film.

In a new interview with People, Johnny said he found parallels between himself and the character he played, King Louis XV, especially when it came to how they presented themselves. "I certainly wouldn't complain about it ever, but there is a part of you that is kind of cut off from the world. Where, if you go out, it gets weird, you know? It just gets weird."

He's living a more private life in London.

Now living in London, it seems that Johnny is making the moves to keep his life relatively low-key. "He really feels London is a home. It is more of a quiet life, but filled with painting and music. He’s jamming out with friends and playing solo in times when he’s not focused on filmmaking," the source said.

Romance isn't currently on the table.

According to the source, there isn’t enough time for him to date or have any sort of romantic relationships. They claim that he’s "really too busy" as he keeps pushing forward with creative projects.

"He’s really open to anything. It’s kind of like a ‘never say never.’ There are no closed doors. If there’s a role that comes along that he’s incredibly passionate about, of course he’s going to look into it," they said.

He's only thinking about the future right now.

"He’s focused on moving forward," the source claims. "He’s keeping busy. There’s a lot of good distractions, so there’s not that much time to be reminiscing on that darker period."

Sounds like he’s really putting the past behind himself. "There’s been a release of the old and embarking on this new chapter. He’s feeling better about where he is in life. There’s no animosity toward anybody."
