Josh Duggar‘s release date has officially been delayed, and it sounds like the extra time spent behind bars is going to be even less comfortable than his stay so far (which isn’t saying much). According to what a source told The Sun, Josh’s living situation at FCI Seagoville in Texas has been massively downgraded, and now, he can no longer call the upgraded, renovated honor dorms his home.
Last year, The Sun reported that Josh had been awarded the privilege of staying in the honor dorms, the section of prison housing meant to be nicer than what the majority of Seagoville’s inmate population experienced. The source told the news site that it was decorated with flowers and included conveniences like microwaves and washers and dryers.
There’s a catch, though: Those who live in this special housing “can’t have any disciplinary actions in a certain amount of time, have to have a job and must sign a code of conduct agreement.”
It sounds like Josh may have broken a rule, because last month, news broke that his release has been pushed back more than two months to December 23, 2032 and now, a source says that Josh’s living arrangements also have changed recently.
“He’s no longer living in the honors dorm, he has been transferred to a regular one,” the source shared.
At this point, the insider isn’t sure what happened that led to Josh being removed from the cushier dorms, so it’s hard to say for sure. But if he is facing disciplinary measures, it won’t be the first time. Josh previously had his sentenced lengthened in 2023 when he was allegedly caught with a contraband cellphone – a punishment that also included time in the special housing unit.
It doesn’t sound like life will be pleasant for Josh in his new housing unit, especially in the sweltering Texas heat. The Sun reported that the air conditioning at Seagoville runs on generator power, and power outages are reportedly frequent. The facility also confirmed in a statement that the older buildings at the prison are not equipped with air conditioning in the dorms.
“In the units without A/C there are rooms within those units where inmates can sit in A/C, as we have TV and computer rooms that give them a chance to cool down,” the statement noted. “Additionally in those housing units we have fans to circulate the air. All housing has ice available to inmates.”
