If there’s one thing you won’t catch a Duggar critic doing, it’s giving anyone in the family the benefit of the doubt. And when one user posted on Reddit about Joy-Anna Duggar being the “most smug daughter” in the Duggar family, people were inclined to agree. See? None of the people who have snarked on the reality TV family for years is here to defend them, especially when it comes to their smug smiles or social media posts.
As a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her kids for a couple of hours each day, Joy-Anna is an avid content creator on Instagram. So in a way, she sort of sets herself up to get trolled by other social media users. Whether or not she sees the Reddit posts about her smugness, it’s a point of conversation for those who just can’t stand the Duggars.
Joy-Anna Duggar’s smug face is enough to annoy plenty of people.
In the Reddit post, the user shared a video that Joy-Anna posted of herself walking to her mailbox. Why was she filming herself walking down her driveway to her mailbox? The world may never know.
“The smug facial expressions felt snark worthy,” the user wrote in the post. “It irks me that she’s out there doing blanket training and s–t then has the nerve to think people want to watch her walk to her fkn mailbox.”
Blanket training is a time-honored practice by parents in the Duggar family, wherein they use methods of sometimes harsh correction to keep babies on a blanket to teach them obedience early on. And no, they have not yet come under serious scrutiny for this practice.
Someone else commented on the thread, to explain Joy-Anna’s smug facial expressions, “They’re all high on their own farts.”
When it comes to the most smug Duggar, though, someone wrote, “When Jana and Jessa are dead, probably. Joy is annoying but those two have been neck and neck for that title since they were teens.”
On another Reddit post about Jana Duggar specifically, users called out her smugness, and one of them wrote, “I hate that smug face they have. I know I’m going to sound mean but these people are terrible people so I don’t care, but it’s probably why they have so much forehead wrinkles, from their faces being permanently stuck like that. Like she’s in her mid-30s and she’s already showing them deep forehead wrinkles. Same with Jessa.”
Another said, “All the girls have Resting Smug Face.”
To that, a Redditor replied, “So do the boys. The pure arrogance sweating out of their pores is so evident since I’ve seen more footage of them lately. And the way Joe always sounds like a youth pastor giving a sermon when he talks to Kendra. The way he assigns her reading during their talks pisses me off.”
People don’t quite understand Joy-Anna’s social media content.
For Joy-Anna specifically, and her videos where she is doing mundane things around the house, all with a little smile in her videos or photos, is too much for some. Users in the Reddit thread speculated on why Joy-Anna might find it so enthralling to film herself getting the mail and why she thinks her followers want to see that.
“I think she wants all of us to realize she has a long and enviable hike to her mailbox,” someone speculated.
Another joked, “The walk to the mailbox is the only time she can fart without needing to be joyfully available.”
Anna Duggar was called out for her own smug behavior.

Depending on which Duggar hater you talk to, someone might think Jessa Duggar is the most smug of all. Or, they might believe Jana Duggar takes the cake. Others, however, see Anna Duggar as one of the most smug faces in a Duggar lineup, even if she is an in-law and not one of the adult Duggar daughters.
Evidence of this, according to another Reddit post, is her smug smile when she and Josh Duggar exited a courthouse during the early days of his case involving charges related to child sexual abuse material. And, to be fair, both Anna and Josh had some pretty smug looks that day, per the photo in the Reddit post.
“I have honestly never understood the smug looks here,” someone commented. “They just had a terrible day in court and came out like this! Why? Just…what exactly were they thinking??
