Hannah Gosselin Says Mom Kate Gosselin ‘Separated’ Collin From Siblings When He Misbehaved

Hannah Gosselin is shedding more light on what her life was like growing up in the spotlight. The 19-year-old is talking about her family’s time on the TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8 for a new documentary series, The Dark Side of the 2000s, produced by Vice. And now, ahead of the debut, a clip has been released of Hannah talking about the way her mom, Kate Gosselin, treated her brother Collin.

"He would not get to come and play outside with us," Hannah said in the video. "He would eat dinner at different times than us."

She went on to add an observation about how her parents, especially her mother, chose to handle Collin’s behavioral issues.

"I don’t think effort was made in the home to help him learn what behavior is acceptable and what behavior is not acceptable," she shared.

Collin believed he was a target.

The clip also featured Collin talking about his feelings on how his behavior was dealt with.

"I'm not going to say I was a perfect child. But I'd say my misbehaving was no different from my siblings," he said in the video.

He also shared his thoughts on how he felt Jon and Kate’s 2009 divorce changed the way his mother dealt with him and his behavior issues.

It's heartbreaking to hear him speak about his experience.

"I know my mother was going through a lot of things. I mean, a divorce, and plenty of different things that can’t be easy to go through," Collin said.

"And, you know, I want to think that she needed someone to take out her anger and frustration on, and it was just kind of me. I was in the way and I was there. So, she chose me."

Collin seemed very reserved in the clip but also firm in his belief. This isn’t the first time he has spoken about his belief that being on reality television messed with the family’s dynamic.

Collin and Kate remain estranged today.

"I think it tore us apart," he told Entertainment Tonight in 2022. "It gave us less time to actually be together as a family [and] more time to be in the public eye."

Collin lives with his father, Jon, and has no contact with Kate. He and Hannah recently graduated from high school, and although Kate lavished attention and praise on Hannah, she reportedly snubbed Collin.

Despite this, the siblings are clearly very close. Posting on Instagram about his graduation, Collin had this to say: "I want to first thank my amazing sister, Hannah, for standing by me and supporting me, she is my number 1."

Collin has a lot of supporters backing him up.

Commenters on TikTok had nothing but supportive things to say about Hannah and Collin sharing their thoughts.

"I've been waiting for these kids to tell their story for so so so long," one person wrote.

"I’m so happy these kids are telling their story now. Colin was a sweet little guy and Kate was so evil to him," another person added.

Dark Side of the 2000s premieres at 9 p.m. ET July 18 on Vice TV.
