Kelly Clarkson Finally Admits To Using a Weight Loss Drug To Drop 60 Pounds

With her dramatic transformation over the last several months, fans have been wondering how Kelly Clarkson has managed to lose weight so quickly. Many assumed that she was taking a weight loss drug such as Ozempic, but for a long time, Kelly insisted that wasn't the case — according to her, she had shed a significant amount of weight thanks to good old diet and exercise.

Because the singer and talk show host is pretty open about her life, many didn't question it, especially because so many celebrities have spoken about their experiences with weight loss drugs or their desire to try them. Now, Kelly has changed her tune about how she lost the weight, and some people have a lot of feelings about it all.

Kelly was matter-of-fact about her admission.

Kelly made the big reveal during an episode of her hit talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show while chatting with The View cohost Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi shared that she has recently lost a lot of weight while using the type II diabetes weight loss drug Mounjaro.

“I’ve lost a lot [of weight] as well,” Kelly admitted.

She's keeping tight-lipped about one detail.

Even though she didn’t say the name of the medication she’s taking, she made it clear that she’s not taking Ozempic. She claims this medication is “something that aids in helping break down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn’t do it right.”

“Mine is a different one than people assume but I ended up having to do that too because my blood work got so bad,” she said. “My doctor chased me for two years and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.'"

Kelly previously emphasized diet and exercise as the key to her weight loss.

Kelly, who at her “heaviest” was 203 pounds, hasn’t said how much weight she’s lost, but Extra TV reported that she lost about 60 pounds. In January, after people had been speculating about how she lost weight, she set the record straight. “I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t,” she told People.

“Walking in the city is quite the workout. And I’m really into infrared saunas right now,” she shared. “And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

People are having a lot of feelings about her revelation.

Because of her firm denial of using medication to lose weight, fans on social media expressed their opinions about her sudden admission.

“It was so obvious and stupid for her to lie about it. Almost any celebrity that’s suddenly lost a lot of weight used meds,” one person tweeted.

“Of course she did who would have ever thought otherwise,” another person replied.

“Disappointed, but not surprised,” someone else shared.

“So why did she lie about it for so long?” another person asked on Instagram.

Some people did come to her defense.

“Don't understand why she would have to keep that to herself. There are plenty of people using it to lose weight and get healthier, Is that not a good thing?” one person asked in a tweet.

“So weight loss is so hard for some people, maybe she had a hormone condition we don’t know about good for her if it helped!” someone else commented in support.

“You guys shame people when they are big but then shame them for finding a method to lose weight. Make it make sense,” yet another person shared on Instagram.
