King Charles Reportedly Refused To Take Harry’s Calls Because He Kept Asking for Money

One royal expert is finally shedding some light on the real reason King Charles stopped accepting phone calls from Prince Harry. And like with many non-royal families, it seems like their feud all centered around money … and Harry's lack of it.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry admitted that his father had stopped taking his calls.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they dished on what had been going on behind the scenes with the royals, including Harry's tense relationship with his dad.

Now, Robert Jobson has addressed Harry's accusations about being cut off from his father in his new book Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, claiming Charles had a good reason for ignoring his youngest son's calls.

Robert claims Harry had grown combative with his dad over the topic of money.

Page Six reports that the two men had increasingly hostile conversations over money.

"Charles stopped taking the calls, however, after his son had sworn at him and repeatedly asked for funds in their tense calls," Robert writes. "When [Queen Elizabeth] asked him why, Charles told her that he was not a bank."

While that sounds harsh, it does make sense with everything else we've learned about the early days of their estrangement.

When his dad cut him off, Harry turned to the Queen.

His book also alleges that Harry "was regularly trying to contact his grandmother" after leaving his official royal post.

"The Queen hoped that her grandson, having decided to live in Canada and then California, would find peace and happiness living the life he had chosen, but in the end she asked him to speak directly to his father," he continued.

According to a source who spoke with Robert, the Queen didn't appreciate being stuck in the middle and found her chats with Harry "difficult and wearisome."

She also worried about interfering with Harry's relationship with his father. In the end, the Queen reportedly requested Harry speak to his father about any of his concerns.

Much of the excerpt from Robert's book aligns with what we've heard from Harry himself.

Harry has alluded to his family's financial concerns about funding his life after he left the royal family, even writing about it in his memoir Spare, saying Charles was unwilling to shell out any cash once Meghan Markle became part of the family.

"Pa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn't stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him," Harry claimed in his book.

Harry's bank account has grown considerably since he left royal life, but it's easy to imagine that those early days were probably scary for the father of two. We can get why he'd be so upset with his father for turning him away in his time of need.
