Kylie Kelce Says She’s Been ‘Angrily Bleaching’ Her House After Mice Infestation

No one wants to deal with mice, or rats, or any icky combination of those in your home. Especially when you have kids. So when Kylie Kelce and husband Jason Kelce were met with the very real issue of mice in their kitchen, Kylie did the only thing she could: burned it all down. OK, just kidding, but I wouldn’t blame her if she did, because…mice? Yeah, no thanks.

Kylie explains in an episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast that she was surprised to have to deal with a mice problem in her home after being extremely clean. But she also shares how she decided to deal with the possible infestation and what really worried her about possibly having mice, or even rats, living under her roof.

Kylie Kelce used bleach to sanitize her entire kitchen

In her podcast episode, Kylie explains that her dishwasher had an error message on it. When a repair technician arrived at her home to try and fix it, he found wires chewed through and an abundance of dog food. It was all courtesy of mice who decided to make their home behind (or maybe inside of?) Kylie’s dishwasher. And that was a big no for her.

“I was angrily bleaching the entire kitchen floor because there was mouse droppings,” Kylie explains during the episode. And as far as home invading rodents go, mice in particular gross Kylie out in a big way. She also says on the podcast, “I hate mice. Their little naked tails. This is not a matter of cleanliness. I wanna be clear on that. There’s gonna be so many people with opinions on this. They have mice in their house.”

But finding mice droppings in your home, particularly your kitchen, does make it a matter of cleanliness, and it’s totally OK to not want a mouse infestation if they are wild mice and not domesticated mice kept safely in cages. Let’s be real. There’s a big difference.

Apparently, she is very particular about cleanliness and germs.

Kylie explains in her podcast episode that she likes to get every single germ out of her home and kitchen if she can. To do that, she often runs her dishwasher on the sanitize setting to be safe. That’s what saved her in the end, since the dishwasher didn’t work and it seems to be her favorite kitchen appliance.

“I am very particular about the kitchen and food preparation and, in particular, dishes,” Kylie says on her podcast. “I love my dishwasher, and I love running it on sanitize. That’s my favorite setting. I love heavy duty, and I love sanitize. It makes my heart happy. I like to blast basically power wash my dishes and then heat them to a temperature that is going to annihilate anything that could possibly be on them.”

Hantavirus was her biggest concern.

Kylie also says in the episode that Hantavirus was on her mind during the mouse fiasco in her kitchen.

“I don’t want hantavirus from other people or the authentic way through rodent feces in your kitchen,” she noted.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hantavirus can be passed to humans through mouse feces and cause illness or even death. And with the reports about hantavirus across the world, you can see why Kylie was a bit concerned.

Now, per Kylie, she might consider finally getting a cat, though she doesn’t seem totally happy about it. Cats are known for making sure the home is free from mice. Well, for the most part, anyway. And listeners commented on YouTube after Kylie posted the podcast episode to tell her that this is her sign to get a cat. Others noted that her mice crash out is incredibly “valid.”
