As we enter a new month, Netflix will once again be dropping a ton of content from its streaming platform. Nearly two dozen movies will be removed from Netflix on September 1, including a bunch of horror movies, romantic comedies, and some kids movies, too. Thankfully, there are also lots of movies being added to the streaming service in September as well, but we're definitely still sad to see some of these films disappear — especially the horror movies that we might not get to watch before Halloween.
Why must they do this to us!?
But it is important to keep in mind that while these movies are leaving Netflix now, that doesn't mean they won't be back. We could even see them again as soon as next month, depending on the terms of Netflix's contract with each movie studio. For example, the Back to the Future trilogy and Grease (among others) have already been removed and added back to the streaming service's library of films multiple times in 2020. (Weird, but true.) There's likely some sort of quota that determines what stays and what goes, but regardless, we just have to accept that the content on Netflix is fluid.
In the hopes of watching at least a few before they're gone, we've collated a list of the best movies leaving Netflix in September, so that all our readers have to do is queue up those apps and settle in for a cozy weekend movie marathon.
