There is a whole slew of shows coming out this spring. So just as a bunch of shows are finishing up their 2020/21 seasons, there will be plenty of new shows to take their place over the next few months. From brand-spankin'-new series premiering to shows embarking on their finals seasons, there definitely won't be a shortage of shows to check out this spring. Oh, and there are even a few much-anticipated season premieres coming for shows that were supposed to air in 2020, but experienced production delays.
Tons of streaming services and networks will be airing new content this spring, and even though we're hoping to get a lot of time outdoors this spring, there are bound to be plenty of rainy days that we have every intention of spending in front of the TV. Plus, most of these shows will air new episodes well into the summer, so we'll have something to keep us entertained for a while.

'Cruel Summer'
Airing on Freeform: April 20
The new Freeform drama Cruel Summer should provide plenty of suspense for viewers wanting an escape from real life. Actress Jessica Biel is the executive producer of the show, which is set in the '90s and follows the story of a popular Texas teen who goes missing. When an assuming and shy girl from the same town seemingly takes her place in the social hierarchy, suspicions arise.
'Rutherford Falls'
Airing on Peacock: April 22
Art imitates life in the upcoming series Rutherford Falls, which is about a town that is shaken when its namesake decides he's going to fight the moving of a historical statue that's long been erected in the town. Starring Ed Helms and Jana Schmieding, one distinct element of this sitcom is that it strives to bring the indigenous American narrative to the forefront.
'Shadow and Bone'
Airing on Netflix: April 23
A new Netflix original series, eight episodes of Shadow and Bone will drop on the streaming service towards the end of April. It's based on the books Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. The series falls into the fantasy genre and is about an orphan mapmaker who discovers an incredible power that could turn the tides for her war-torn world.
'A Black Lady Sketch Show'
Airing on HBO and HBO Max: April 23
The second season of A Black Lady Sketch Show will premiere on HBO this spring. For those who didn't see any of the first season, think Key & Peele, but starring a slew of Black, female comedians, including creator Robin Thede, Gabrielle Dennis, Skye Townsend, and more.
'The Handmaid's Tale'
Airing on Hulu: April 28
After being pushed back months due to the health crisis, The Handmaid's Tale, starring Elizabeth Moss, is finally returning at the end of April. Hulu will release the first three episodes of season four, which sees June as a rebel leader fighting against Gilead, on the same day.
'MacGyver'
Airing on CBS: April 30
The fifth and final season of CBS's MacGyver reboot, which has been on the air since 2016, will also premiere at the end of April. Fans of the series will have to get ready to say goodbye, but now's a great time for viewers who have yet to check it out to binge watch the show all the way through.
'The Mosquito Coast'
Airing on Apple TV+: April 30
Starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George, The Mosquito Coast is a brand-new series based on the novel of the same name by Justin's uncle, Paul Theroux. The show follows a radical idealist as he uproots his family and moves them to Latin America after they find themselves on the run.
'Pose'
Airing on FX: May 2
The popular FX series Pose starring Billy Porter, MJ Rodriguez, and Indya Moore, which is about the "ball" culture started by the Black and Latinx LGBTQ community during the age-of-excess in New York City in the 1980s and 1990s, will air its third and final season this May.
'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'
Airing on CW: May 2
The sixth season of the popular series DC's Legends of Tomorrow is premiering on May 2. The show is about a ragtag group of superheroes and villains who are assembled with the goal of preventing an apocalypse that could potentially change the course of history.
'The Girlfriend Experience'
Airing on Starz: May 2
Nearly four years after the last season debuted, season three of the Starz series The Girlfriend Experience will air in May. Based on the 2009 film of the same name by director Steven Soderbergh, this anthology series is about a high-end prostitute who offers men in Washington, DC, "the girlfriend experience" to put herself through law school.
'Star Wars: The Bad Batch'
Airing on Disney+: May 4
Yet another installment in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a new animated series premiering on Disney+ this spring. It's about a group of experimental clones with genetic mutations navigating the changing galaxy in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. It's sure to be popular among kids and grown-ups alike.
'Selena: The Series'
Airing on Netflix: May 4
Since both parts were filmed at the same time, fans won't have to wait long to binge watch the second part of Netflix's Selena: The Series, which follows the life of the late legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla. Starring Christian Serratos, part two will cover Selena's marriage, crossover success, and presumably the events that led to her murder.
'Girls5eva'
Airing on Peacock: May 6
A Peacock original helmed by Tina Fey and starring Hamilton's Renée Elise Goldsberry, Girls5eva is a musical comedy series about a washed-up all-girl singing group from the '90s that gets a second shot at stardom after a new, young talent samples one of the band's old songs.
'Dynasty'
Airing on CW: May 7
The first episode of season four of the CW series Dynasty, starring Grant Show and Sam Adegoke, will air this May. The series, which is a remake of the 1980s-era series of the same name, is about two of the wealthiest families in America and their ongoing feud as they struggle over their fortunes and their futures.
'Shrill'
Airing on Hulu: May 7
Starring Saturday Night Live's Aidy Bryant, Shrill is a Hulu original comedy series about a young, female journalist struggling to find success without changing her body. Along the way she must deal with fickle romantic relationships, aging parents, and a demanding boss, all while she learns to accept herself for who she is.
'Jupiter's Legacy'
Airing on Netflix: May 7
A brand-new Netflix original series, Jupiter's Legacy is about a new generation of superheroes descended from the world's first superheroes. The new supes must step up to fill the shoes of their parents before them and honor their legacy while navigating complicated relationships with one another and their families.
'Mythic Quest'
Airing on Apple TV+: May 7
Returning for a second season, the quirky series Mythic Quest follows the team behind the most popular multiplayer video game of all time as they navigate their relationships with one another and try to balance their personal lives with the demands of their high-pressure jobs.
'Ziwe'

Ziwe is a brand-new Showtime series starring Ziwe Fumudoh. It's a quirky variety comedy show from the internet sensation, who will bring lots of laughs in the form of musical numbers, interviews, and various comedy sketches that touch on a wide range of controversial topics from race to politics.
'Mom'
Airing on CBS: May 13
The long-running CBS series Mom will begin its eighth and final season this May. The show, which stars Allison Janney, Jaime Pressly, and Kristen Johnston, is about a single mother navigating her own sobriety while living and working in California's Napa Valley. But the final season will bring a change in dynamics.
'The Underground Railroad'
