A Witness Reportedly Tipped Off Police Ahead of Justin Timberlake’s DUI Arrest

More and more information about the night Justin Timberlake was arrested is coming to light, and it looks like someone was trying to tip the police off before he even got behind the wheel. Last week, the entertainer was arrested for driving while intoxicated after an evening out at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, New York.

News of his arrest broke quickly, and the details emerged soon after. Police reported that Justin was extremely intoxicated when he was pulled over and failed several field sobriety tests. Justin and his team have maintained that he only had one drink that night, but his behavior causes suspicion. And now it seems that people were aware of his state before he even left the restaurant.

Did a concerned party try to stop Justin?

A local Hamptons restaurant owner anonymously spoke with the New York Post, telling the outlet that someone at the American Hotel called the police to voice concerns that Justin was going to get behind the wheel drunk.

“[They] said Justin was having a lot of drinks, and they told the cop to watch him if he is going to drive,” the person said.

The person who called in the tip hasn't been identified.

To protect the anonymity of the person, the restaurant owner didn’t specify if the informant was a hotel employee, a patron of the restaurant, or even someone who was with Justin at the time.

Justin did end up getting behind the wheel that night, and shortly after he left the hotel, was pulled over by a police officer who gave him a warning, thinking that would be enough. Apparently, it wasn’t.

Justin's arrest was perfect social media fodder.

Minutes later, the same officer pulled Justin over again after he allegedly drove through a stop sign and couldn’t stay in his lane. According to the police, his eyes were glassy and he smelled strongly of alcohol. The interaction he had with the officers was leaked by sources and quickly became the subject of many jokes on social media.

The source believes that Justin was 'mistreated.'

“[He was] definitely treated unfairly,” the source told the New York Post. “Everyone drives through that stop sign when no one is there,” he said, adding that Justin is a “Hamptons regular” and has been to his restaurants “many times.”

He had nothing but good things to say about Justin, calling him a “gentleman.”

They don't believe the police officers didn't know who Justin was.

The source also shared that he doesn’t believe the claim that the young police officer who pulled Justin over didn’t know who the multiple award-winning performer was.

“If you live in America, you know who Justin Timberlake is,” he said. “The cop did his job, but he definitely knew who Justin was.”
