Royal Family Fires Back After Prince Harry Claims King Charles Refuses To Speak to Him in Surprise BBC Interview

Prince Harry may have lost his appeal in his high-profile lawsuit demanding higher levels of security for him and his family during visits to the United Kingdom, but he’s not ready to stop talking about it. After Harry appeared in a surprise interview with the BBC on May 2, sharing more behind-the-scenes information about where his relationship with father King Charles stands today, the palace has officially responded.

While talking to BBC News in a sit-down interview that took place in California, he admitted he wished he could reconcile with his family, who he continues to feud with – especially because his father has been battling cancer for more than a year.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry said. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”

When it comes to his security issues, Harry also said he believes that Charles could ensure “this whole thing could be resolved” quickly.

“Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts to do what is necessary,” he said during the interview.

It’s not often that the royals respond to something like this publicly, but for Harry, it seems they’re making an exception – and it doesn’t sound like Charles is planning to get involved, either.

According to People, Buckingham Palace released the following statement after the interview: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry said that although he never asked his dad to “intervene” in the security issue, he’s still “devastated” at how people who may have contributed to the judge’s decision could have affected the outcome.

“Not so much as devastated with the loss that I am about the people behind the decision, feeling as though this is okay. Is it a win for them?” he said.

Now, it doesn’t seem very likely that Harry and wife Meghan Markle will be able to bring their kids, Archie and Lili, into the UK to spend time with the family members they haven’t had much opportunity to know.

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” he said.
