Prince William Opens Up About ‘Noisy’ Plans for Royal Christmas With 45 Guests

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is next week, and even the royals are busy checking off items on their holiday to-do lists at the last minute. It’s not often that a member of The Firm shares details about their celebrations this time of year, but Prince William seems to have made an exception while chatting with soldiers during a royal engagement this week.

William attended a holiday party for the Mercian Regiment.

“Joining a wonderful Christmas lunch and festive activities with the @mercianregiment and their families. (And the Regimental Mascot too of course!),” William wrote, sharing photos from the December 10 event on Instagram. “From swapping stories to enjoying the holiday cheer, it’s moments like these that showcase the strength and spirit of the regiment’s community. Proud to be the Colonel-in-Chief!”

While there, he filled in soldiers on his plans for Christmas.

“We’ll be in Norfolk, at Sandringham. We’ll be 45 for Christmas. It won’t be quiet, it will be noisy,” William said during the visit, according to People.

Sandringham is where the royals traditionally celebrate the holidays, so it sounds like this year won’t be any different.

He's not quite ready for the holiday, though.

“Am I ready for Christmas? No, no way am I ready,” William said while talking with soldiers. Sgt. Sam Murray told People, “He asked what my children wanted for Christmas. He said he is not organized himself.”

It's going to be a busy Christmas.

After chatting with William at the Christmas lunch, Leah St Clair-Lewis told People that they talked about “what he was up to for Christmas and enjoying walks with his dogs at Sandringham.”

“He said there will be 45 of them under one roof for Christmas,” she said. “He didn’t say whether that was just for one day or over the Christmas period. They must need a very long table.”

Will and Kate are already in holiday mode.

Vanity Fair has reported that George, Charlotte, and Louis are already on a school break for the holidays until January 8, so they’ll be ready for what a royal source told the magazine will be “one of the biggest family Christmases ever.”

“Actually the plan is for them to all be at Sandringham for a very special big family Christmas,” the source said. “William and Catherine and the children will be there. The king and queen want their nearest and dearest with them to celebrate.”
