‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood Isn’t Speaking to Fiancé Gary Now That He’s Been Found

Amber Portwood can’t seem to escape the drama. In a matter of weeks, the Teen Mom star revealed a new relationship with Gary Wayt, shared that they were engaged to be married, and then Gary suspiciously went missing in North Carolina. Amber was the one to report Gary missing after they had some sort of disagreement that caused Gary to get in his car and leave without his phone. Amber claimed that the argument wasn’t anything major.

Thankfully, Gary turned up in Oklahoma, hundreds of miles from where he disappeared a few days earlier. After Gary was found alive and OK, Amber headed back to their home state of Indiana, but apparently, she and Gary still haven’t had any contact with each other.

Amber is now laying low after Gary was found.

A source close to Amber told The U.S. Sun that the couple haven’t spoken since Gary left North Carolina. “Amber has not spoken to him and she isn't reaching out to him,” the source shared. “She hasn't really reached out to anyone since he was found.”

“She is pretty hurt by the whole situation and still in disbelief,” the source added.

The status of her and Gary's relationship is up in the air.

Amber and Gary were in North Carolina for her brother Shawn Portwood’s wedding, and everything apparently seemed fine between the couple. The insider told the outlet that Amber had bought Gary his own engagement ring, which he had been wearing while they were away from home. The source is unclear on if Amber is expecting Gary to return the ring, or if she is planning to return his engagement ring when they are back in contact with each other.

Things between the couple were tense before Gary left.

While Amber claimed that their argument wasn’t a “blowup fight,” they did talk about something pretty serious: Gary’s family didn’t exactly approve of his relationship with Amber. A different source told The U.S. Sun that the couple had discussed “the difference in culture between his culture and hers and how his family was not very accepting of her and expressed serious concerns.”

“They also said that they didn't like her past,” the source added.

Gary was eventually found hundreds of miles away from where he and Amber had been staying.

Following the argument, Gary stormed out of the vacation rental they were sharing, leaving behind his phone. He took the car they had, as well as his wallet, and did not return.

Unable to get ahold of him, Amber reported him missing to the Bryson City Police Department, which opened a missing persons case. It remained open even after Gary was spotted in Oklahoma and New Mexico because the police were waiting to hear from him. Once he let the authorities know that he was OK, the case was closed.

Amber had a 'Teen Mom' friend to lean on during the whole ordeal.

Us Weekly reported that Amber’s friend and Teen Mom costar Maci Bookout had traveled to North Carolina to comfort Amber and bring her home. Maci traveled from her home in Tennessee to North Carolina to offer support after Amber was left stranded in North Carolina without a way home.

“Maci and Amber left North Carolina last night,” a source told the outlet on June 14. “Maci was kind enough to drive her home to Indiana.”
