There is so much to watch on television between all the steaming platforms that we have available. Given we don't have unlimited time, trying to decide what to watch isn't always easy. It's a good problem to have when we think about it, because having too much to watch is better than having nothing. One show that people can't stop talking about is Amazon Prime's The Boys.
We grew up watching superhero movies and television shows, so if that's something that is of interest, The Boys will feed into that love. But unlike the typical story lines of the average superhero, The Boys follows superpowered humans who are treated like gods … but there's a sinister undertone to the group. Alongside the story line of the superheroes comes a group of misfit vigilantes who attempt to keep the superpowered group, called "the Seven," under control and hold them accountable.
The second season is currently airing on Amazon Prime, with a drip release that has us itching for the next week when we can get our fix. If the first season kept interest β and there was an itch to find out what would happen next β and there's a wait for the next episode, we have some other ideas.
Below are 15 other television shows and movies to watch after binging The Boys β or while waiting for the next episode to be available to stream. All these have a similar feel to the Amazon show, whether it's the subject line, or a story that keeps the viewer on their toes.
'Jessica Jones'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: Netflix
Jessica Jones follows the superhero by the same name who tries to rebuild her life by taking on the role of a private investigator. In the series, she finds herself having to deal with other people who have extraordinary abilities, and she has a hilarious wit about it all.
'Hannibal'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: NBC
There is something about watching people on television who are terrifying in their lack of empathy and always getting into trouble. Hannibal has the same "what will happen next" feel that The Boys has, and what ends up happening is usually outside what we expect.
'The Punisher'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: Netflix
Not all superheroes start their career off by wanting to do good, but it's revenge that drives them. Similar themes were in The Boys, and The Punisher takes that idea to the extreme. Frank Castle becomes the vigilante known as "The Punisher," and doesn't let anything get in the way of the revenge he is after.
'Doom Patrol'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: HBO Max
There are so many superheroes that don't get the attention they deserve, and that's what the focus of Doom Patrol is on: unfamiliar DC heroes β including Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane. They aren't exactly jazzed about having to do what they're tasked with, but they make it exciting nonetheless.
'Kick-Ass'
Rated: R
Many kids have pretended they have superhero powers β and try their hand at the task β but rarely does that go anywhere. In Kick-Ass, unassuming people take on the role with no training, and no real idea what they're doing.
'Titans'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: Netflix
The DC Universe is filled with heroes that no one has heard of, and this group of unassuming heroes is in the same realm as the ones from Doom Patrol. Titans follows the more A-team group of heroes as they try and take down the people who terrorize the city.
'Legion'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: FX Network
Legion is another in the superhero realm, following in the Marvel Universe with a guy named David Haller. At first glance, he seems to be suffering from a mental illness, but there's a lot more to him than it looks. The show takes the viewer on some twists that were never expected.
'The Umbrella Academy'
Rated: TV-14
Watch on: Netflix
Much like the story line in The Boys on how the superheroes came to be, there's a very similar one going on in The Umbrella Academy. The group of people, who are tasked with saving the world, have a unique connection to each other, and the situations they find themselves in are never dull.
'Gotham'
Rated: TV-14
Watch on: Fox Network
We all know the DC Comic's story line of Batman, and that's the central theme of this television show. Instead of the superhero being the focus of the show, it's centered on the rise in the career of Detective James Gordon, and how he came to be in the position he was before Batman started to help.
'The Tick'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: Amazon Prime
Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, and in The Tick, the one who is out there saving the day is a man dressed as a giant blue tick. His sidekick, an accountant who didn't realize what he was accidentally getting himself into, he finds himself surprisingly helpful.
'Happy!'

Watch on Syfy

'Watchmen'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: HBO Max
Nothing is what we'd expect in this timeline where vigilantes act as the police, and their identity is kept secret. The masked vigilantes have to conduct some impressive detective work to determine who is on their side and who requires being taken down. Nothing is as it seems in Watchmen, and nothing will get in their way of taking down the terrorist group.
'Breaking Bad'
Rated: TV-MA
Watch on: Netflix
In Breaking Bad a chemistry teacher β who leads a pretty average and perhaps boring life β has everything changed when he's diagnosed with lung cancer. In his pursuit to provide enough money for his family before he dies, he finds himself using his knowledge of chemicals to go into the drug business. This story is unlike any other and full of all sorts of twists.
'300'
Rated: R
This 2006 movie doesn't follow typical superheroes, like the ones in The Boys. Still, it does follow an incredible battle between King Leonidas of Sparta, and a force of 300 men who fight against the Persians at Thermopylae. The scenes don't shy away from graphic images in favor of telling the story, interestingly.
