See What Happens When You Microwave a Watermelon & 10 Other Crazy Things (VIDEO)

You know how everyone says you shouldn't put metals in the microwave? That nuking food wrapped in tin foil is dangerous? Have you ever wondered… What would happen if you just tried? If you just happened to have a microwave oven you could afford to destroy, and if you had some protective gear just in case?

Well, today is your lucky day. Because the restaurant Moe's Southwest Grill has conducted some microwave oven experiments on behalf of curious eaters everywhere! Check out what happens when you just throw in a tomato, or a lime, or a watermelon — or a number of things — into a microwave oven and hit "start."

Oh this is fun. So not only does this video show what happens when you nuke an array of random ingredients — it shows how they explode in slow motion. Beautiful! See the watermelon burst. And the lime spurt. And the bar of soap foam up. Yeah, they throw some non-food items in there, too. Including a light bulb!

Guess what makes the biggest explosion of all? You'll have to watch and see. I don't want to spoil the surprise for you. All I can say is, WHY WOULD YOU NUKE THAT?!? Oh what am I saying? I mean, why not?

The title of the video is "Microwaves Ruin Everything" — and if you're talking about nuking processed foods and then serving them at a restaurant, I have to agree. I'd rather be served fresh-made food. But I've lived without a microwave oven for the past few years, and I have to confess, I kind of miss having one. Warming up leftovers is kind of hard, otherwise. But one thing is for sure — if I do ever get a microwave oven I'll be sure and not throw any foil in there. Lighting storm!
