Before I had my daughter, I was so going to be the mom who showered, dried her hair, and put something simple yet chic on every morning. Fast-forward to reality and that's so not the case.
The sad truth is, as moms, we're pressed for time, constantly dealing in the unpredictable (nobody plans for their kid to wake up at 5 a.m.), and will almost always choose sleep when presented with the option of getting gussied and hitting snooze for the fourth time.
But how does that leave us looking?
To put it frankly, not great. Our style often takes a hit when we become moms, due to tiny human beings who, despite their cuteness, need an inordinate amount of attention. And many of us, whether we admit it or not, wind up leaving the house with our pajamas on time and again — not a very flattering look.
The solution? Stock up on pajamas that can totally pass as clothes. Whether you've got kids or simply like to sleep until the very last minute possible, you should check out these 8 adorable PJs that double as cute, comfy clothes. Two birds, one stone. Every parent's dream.
Do you wear your pajamas in public?

'C'est La Vie' T-Shirt
Whether you like this specific T-shirt from J. Crew or not doesn't matter. What you should do, though, is stock up on a few tees that can go from your bed to school pick-up, without looking like you went from your bed to school pick-up.
Instead of wearing the same ratty old T-shirts to sleep in, buy a few cute ones you're not embarrassed to be seen in public in. Hey, if you're in your pajamas all day, it's worth the investment. ($32.50 at J. Crew)
Cropped Harem Pants
Notice the way these black harem-style pants are featured? As clothing. (Unless this woman wears flip-flops to bed.) Comfy pants like these are perfectly acceptable when it comes to running errands. Though it is worth noting that they're better suited for the warmer months, as you'd be hard-pressed to find a pair of close-toed shoes that work well with a cropped pant. ($19.94 at Old Navy)
Whisper Jersey Short
If you're more of a shorts gal, these J.Crew Jersey Shorts are perfectly acceptable attire for both in the bedroom and out. Love the way they're styled here with with the short-sleeve sweatshirt, and love that they come in four colors. ($35 at J.Crew)
Lilac Garden Loungers
These loud print pants definitely aren't everyone's cup of tea, but if you're inclined to wear bolder patterns — and mix and match prints (love the striped tee with them!) — they're adorable. With their soft cotton material, they're perfect for bed, and with their floral print, they're perfect for leaving the house. ($78 at Anthropologie)
Leisure Pullover Top
When the weather cools down, this striped long-sleeve shirt from Target is perfect bedtime/daytime-wear. It would look great with a pair of black skinny jeans (if you're, you know, up for changing your pants), and would be perfectly comfy to sleep and keep warm in. ($7.98 at Target)
Lounge Pant
I'll be honest, I don't love the styling in this picture — the patent leather kitten heels with the sweats is just … odd. But these pants could totally be worn as PJs and for running around town. I personally would advise pairing a sandal and slouchy tee, but hey, if you're into the sweatpant/heel look, that works, too! ($20 at Target)
Baseball Shirt
The baseball shirt. It's comfy. It's classic. It couldn't be more acceptable to wear in public. ($5.98 at Target)
If All Else Fails, Wear All Black
Wearing a black tank top and black leggings to bed is a great way to be able to get up and at 'em (without having to get up and dressed). When the weather cools down, simply throw a cardigan on and you're stylish as can be. (tank $7.95 at H&M</a>; leggings $30 at Anthropologie)
