Sex. We talk about it and think about it far more than we actually do it. And that's a damn shame. Especially for those of us who sleep next to our partners every night and it still doesn't happen. What can we say? We are tired, have children, jobs, and busy lives.
That's no excuse. Enter the sex drawer.
We all have one, right? Er, maybe not ALL of us, OK. But I know I do. And most women I know do as well. It's the little drawer in your nightstand that is full of all your goodies. At times, mine has contained handcuffs, flavored "treats," my dream journal (it's not ALL about sex), various pieces of erotica, and, of course, some toys. Having it close at hand is just more conducive to having a good time.
So what should be in every woman's bedside sex drawer? We talked to Claire Cavanah, Babeland co-founder and co-author of Moregasm: Babeland’s Guide to Mind-Blowing Sex, to get her best tips for must-have sex drawer essentials — and we added in some of our own, too.

What's in your "sex drawer"?

Lubrication
Lube: "[Lube is] the unsung heroine of better sex," says Cavanah. "This humble product may not always get the recognition it deserves, but it’s especially perfect for post-partum moms needing a little help with lubrication." Amen to this. A bedside drawer without lube is like a cupcake without icing. It's not good. Get some now!
Batteries
Batteries: These are great to have on hand for your toys, yes. But also good for flashlights and other assorted items that call for batteries. Like flashlight games DURING sex. Everyone does those, right? But seriously: A well-stocked sex drawer is part of being prepared, no? Prepared for blackouts … and anything else that might come up.
Blindfold
Blindfold: "[This is] ideal for introducing light bondage play and excitement into the bedroom, especially for the mom who enjoyed reading 50 Shades of Grey," says Cavanah. What's more? This can double as a sleeping mask for when you want sleep instead of spank. Perfection!
Condoms
Condoms: If you are done having babies, whether or not you are married, you should have some of these on hand. It's good practice. Either for toys you use or for your man, you never know when you will need one. Also, this is a "staple for the mom who finds herself dating again," says Cavanah. Too true. Safe sex always.
Massage Oil
Massage oil: There is no question that this is a good one to have on hand both for the moments in which you want intimacy, but not necessarily intercourse AND for moisturizing your hands and cuticles before bed. Double duty, baby!
Small Vibrator
Small vibe: You can use the Mia 2 with or without your partner. It's small and discreet. Plus it's rechargeable. AWESOME! "Every woman needs one discreet mini-vibe that’s her go-to … It's perfect for "sneaking a moment when kids are napping," Cavanah says.
Erotica
Erotica: You may have hated 50 Shades of Grey and that's OK. You can find something you like that will get you in the mood that's all your own. Explore. It will help you. And your marriage.
