Millennials have given many gifts to the world: rose gold everything, avocado toast, Benedict Cumberbatch. But there's one gift that stands out from the rest and gets ridiculed way more than the average trend. I'm talking, of course, about the man bun. Like black licorice, man buns are one of those things that people either really love or really hate. And now there's a new twist on man buns that's somehow made the debate even more heated: clip-on man buns.
That's right. If you have a man in your life who can't produce a man bun of his very own, he can now attach this fuzzy pom-pom to his head.
The clip-on man bun comes in three colors: black, brown, and blonde (sorry, redheads, apparently there are no buns for you). And one can be yours for the bargain price of $7.99.
Look how shiny it is. If you shaved a Barbie doll and glued the hair around a ping pong ball, it'd look just like this.
The man bun attaches via an adjustable pulley system, meaning dudes have to have at least a little bit of hair for it to grab onto.
My bald husband will just have to get crazy with the super glue if he wants to join in on this trend.
But the end result is, surprisingly, pretty realistic.
It's no Jonathan Van Ness, but it could actually be mistaken for a legit man bun.
By far, the best part of the clip-on man bun is all the people conspiring on social media to buy them for their friends, relatives, and partners.
You have to agree, it would make a universally excellent stocking stuffer.
Of course, plenty of people also came out of the woodwork to ridicule man buns, calling them douchey and blaming millennials for ruining the world.
There were also a lot of blatantly misogynistic comments from people who think man buns are "too feminine." One guy on Facebook wrote, "I am reconsidering my stance on the draft. We need mandatory Bootcamp to make every male a man."
But, as many people astutely pointed out, clip-on hair is not new.
And, as another person bluntly put it, dudes can totally rock man buns (and anything else they feel like wearing).
Clip-on man buns might not be everyone's thing, but dudes are allowed to have fun with their hair too. Love them or hate them, it looks like we might be seeing a lot more dads with man buns at the playground very soon.
