I tried $13 hair extensions from Amazon — here’s the verdict

Since I was a little girl I have always dreamed of having long, Rapunzel-like hair.

But then three years ago, I decided to chop off my hair to a long bob — and it was my biggest regret. I have been trying to grow my hair out ever since, but as everyone knows, the journey from long bob to long hair, don't care can take FOREVER.

I needed a much quicker route to long, thick hair — especially since I was dressing up as Princess Jasmine for Halloween, and a long, luxurious ponytail is essential.

Inspired by Kim Kardashian's Jasmine look — and her flowing hair — I ordered my costume and figured that if I was going to do it, I gotta do it right. I needed long, thick Jasmine hair, and I needed it quick.

My friends who have extensions recommended Bellami hair, the gold standard. But those extensions can get expensive — I needed inches fast, and I needed them affordable.

So I went to Amazon and found these OneDor extensions. They had excellent ratings for being so cheap ($13!), AND were available for Prime delivery. I took a chance and ordered them.

OneDor hair extensions ($13, Amazon) the first product that came up when I searched "black extensions" and filtered by average customer review, so I took a chance. These extensions are available in seven shades, and claim to be heat resistant.

Now I know what you're thinking — $13 for hair? Really? But honestly, I didn't care. I looked at it as a one night thing that I'd be able to take out if they didn't quite work for me.

What I wasn't expecting was to fall in LOVE.

Turns out that these super-cheap extensions are LIFE-CHANGING. I add them to my hair, and I'm Rapunzel.

I'm wearing shade black, and they blend into my hair absolutely perfectly. If I didn't tell people I was wearing extensions — let alone a set that cost $13 — they'd never know.

The only problem is that, because the extensions come in seven individual pieces, you may need another person to help you attach them all properly. The good news is that you don't have to be a stylist to make that happen — my dad put the extensions in for this photo, and he has NO experience with clip-in hair.

I mean, look at the before and after:

I was expecting to wear these extensions once or twice, and then have them fall apart — but it turns out they've lasted FAR better than I expected.

It's been two months since Halloween, and I'm still rocking these same long extensions ($13, Amazon). They've held up incredibly well, and yes, turns out they really ARE heat-proof — I've curled my extensions just to see, and yes, heat does work on them.

Even after extended wear, these $13 extensions are still shiny without looking fake — they honestly blend perfectly into my hair. And the best part is that they're so comfortable. I can have the Rapunzel hair of my dreams without injuring my scalp.

And if you're wondering whether these extensions were also Princess Jasmine-approved, the answer is YES.

I have never been complimented on my "long hair" so many times. People didn't even question if it was fake. It was such a time to be alive.

These extensions are incredible. I've never felt more like a Disney princess — and I love that I didn't have to spend all my money to get there.
