Since the day it was created, ColourPop Cosmetics has been known for its impossibly fast releases and baffingly low price points.
But it's quickly becoming known for something else that's not so admirable.
One Instagram user suffered intense lip peeling and cracking after using a ColourPop liquid lipstick that came in a beauty subscription box.
And while she suspects the subscription box service might be to blame, she is not nearly the first person to experience such a strong reaction to ColourPop's lipstick formula.
As it turns out, ColourPop's customers frequently experience rashes and cracking of the lips after using its lipsticks.
Multiple commenters on this beauty forum attribute peeling, cracking, swollen, and bumpy lips to ColourPop.
Many of them believe it's because they're allergic to something in the brand's lipstick formula.
And this is occurring far more often with ColourPop's Ultra Matte lipstick formula than it does with other brands and products.
So often, in fact, that even people who've never tried them fear the potential reaction they'll have to them.
Like, customers treat buying these lipsticks the same way they would playing roulette in Vegas.
And they're right to. Even customers who know what ingredients they're allergic to can't check — because the brand does not disclose its formulas online.
ColourPop does list its ingredients on its boxes (as is required by law), so customers don't have access to that information unless they buy the product.
The formula could just contain highly common allergens and dehydrating agents such as phthalates, parabens, and formaldehyde, but it's impossible to tell without spending a few bucks first.
Because ultimately, ColourPop isn't required to. Buyer beware.
Help us out, beauty brands, and show us your ingredients BEFORE we buy your stuff — or else more people might blame you for their burning rashes.
