"Before" and "after" #fitlife photos are either one of two things: Motivating or depressing.
It can be motivating if you actually think that you can achieve that transformation. The photos can also be depressing because they can make you feel like you fall way behind on the fitness achievement scale.
If you fall into the latter category, we have some news for you. These transformation photos, or photos of chiseled abs, thigh gaps or muscles, aren't always accurate.
Enter 'plus-size' model Iskra Lawrence.
She's a 25-year-old from Worcestershire, England and one of the faces of #AERIEReal
Aerie, the women's lingerie store, pledged to no longer retouch their photos and brought on different "role models" to represent the brand. Lawrence became the face of the campaign in February.
And she just put the "thigh gap" situation to rest.
Lawrence, size 14, is known for not re-touching photos on her personal social media pages, either.
And she's a body positive activist, too.
Which is why 5 days ago, she posted these fake 'before' and 'after' photos to prove they don't always show the whole story.
She revealed how easy it is to fake a thigh gap, and why not having one is no big deal.
"I'll be the first one to tell you pics are all about good lighting and angles," she wrote.
"No thigh gap or thigh gap who cares. ... there's no wrong way, just be the healthiest & happiest for you."
She also drove home the point that it's not worth it to compare yourself to others on social media.
"Never let anyone else's pics make you feel insecure about yourself," she added.
