Jeffree Star gave a brutally honest review of the Box of Crayons palette

Jeffree Star may be in the throes of pushing his new Blood Sugar collection, but the makeup guru is always down to try new novelty makeup and spill ALL of the pigment tea to his fans.

Last week Star delivered a scathing review of the Nickelodeon palette, which left his fans entirely shooketh. This time, he pulled out the Box of Crayons palette by The Crayon Case Cosmetics

(Um, major points to Mr. Star for giving a Black-owned brand a chance on your channel!)

From jump street, Star was impressed by the palette's size. He even compared it to the size of the Nickelodeon eye shadow palette.

The proof is in the side-by-side: The Box of Crayons palette swallows the Nickelodeon palette whole like a Reptar bar.

"She's massive," Star said. "Those pans, honey? I'm like, 'Ooh!'"

But of course, a bomb palette requires way more than big pans to earn Jeffree Star approval.

Star also noted how little fallout there was on his first brush swipe through the yellow pan.

It's a fallout-less miracle!

Here's Jeffree Star's reaction to how the yellow shade blended.

Star liked how the Yellow shade blended so much that he decided to do two separate looks on each eye just to play with all the colors.

He did note that the Red shade blended "a little streaky" and had "a little bit more fallout" than the other colors.

"It's not fully opaque. I'm packing it on," he shared, while adding more eye shadow to get an even color pop.

"It looks pretty. It's just not living for when I try to blend it up. It's a little patchy."

After adding on the extra red eye shadow, Star still determined it was cute.

"I'm not hating it at all," he said.

One of Star's ultimate tests for the Box of Crayons palette? BLACK! "Whenever I see a black shadow in a palette, I wanna know, girl, is it rich and beautiful or is it patchy? Black shadows can be tricky."

Star noticed the Black had more fallout than even the Red shade — but once spread out over his lids, he liked it a lot.

"So this Black is very pigmented," he said. "It's not the best black I've ever used but it's definitely something that works."

Unfortunately, the only way to get his metallic shadows to pop was by adding setting spray to the brush.

The extra work did pay off, since Star liked how the metallics popped with the sprayed brush.

"This is looking like a little fire now," he said.

While Star doctored the metallic shadow, he discovered a new problem with the red shadow on his eye.

"The red — for some reason — as we've blended and time has went on, has gotten a little muddy," he shared. "It's just not holding the greatest coverage."

Star packed on MORE red eye shadow with his finger and blended with another brush to get the opaque vibrancy back.

He also used his spit to wet his blending brush to... um...remind us... um... of the pre-setting spray era.

*shudders and moves on*

Star's saliva worked, though. He was obsessed with the pigment of the gold metallic shade.

It does look like something expensive and blinding! The extra work seems worth it to get this color payoff.

Check out Star's final two looks:

Jeffree Star admitted the color scheme he chose was not at all cohesive.

"This is a very weird look. None of this is cohesive," he said. "I would never wear these two together but you know what? I don't give a fuck. I just wanted to try out as many colors as possible for you guys."

Star's final thoughts? "This palette was cute!"

"It was enough to rip off my motherfucking hair because, girl, it had pigment!" he said.

Though he felt the red eye shadow could be improved so it isn't patchy, he considered the rest of the matte shades "bomb" and also adored the metallics despite them needing a little brush spraying.

"For $30 you get a massive-sized palette. The pans are big. I think you get a lot for you money."

So is it Jeffree Star-approved? "Yes, GAWD," he confirmed.

Before Star even uploaded his review of the Box of Crayons palette, it was all sold out on the website.

"Our last 500 Palettes sold out," the brand wrote on Instagram. "We promise to never sell out again! All this love and support was unexpected. Thank you guys for the support."

Now that Jeffree Star has stamped the brand with his approval, it looks like its restock may have a repeat sell-out moment.
