Y'all know where this all begins by now. Last weekend, Tati Westbrook publicly unfriended James Charles in a lengthy video about lies, betrayal, and all-around inappropriate behavior. Charles responded with a brief apology video, then went unheard from until this weekend, when he uploaded his own 40-minute video telling his side of the story.
Shortly thereafter, Jeffree Star, one of the main subjects of Charles' video, took to YouTube to make one final statement and — surprisingly — wants to put an end to all the drama once and for all.
James Charles uploaded this 40-minute video chock-full of receipts to defend his reputation following his breakup with Tati Westbrook.
In the video, he attempts to explain the Sugar Bear Hair situation, the catalyst for Westbrook's scathing breakup video. Part of the video is dedicated to Jeffree Star, who tweeted and deleted claims that he made sexual passes at his boyfriend.
In it, Charles revealed screenshots of text messages from Star that occurred shortly after Westbrook's video upload.
Star alleged in the texts that Charles had come on to Zach Schwandt (Star's boyfriend's younger brother who lives with the couple on and off) with some… very colorful language. Star also claimed he touched other men without their consent, which Charles hotly contested.
Shortly after Charles uploaded that, Star posted his own 14-minute video titled "Never Doing This Again."
It's basically Star's biggest and final statement about all this drama — at least we can only assume. All in all, Star confirms the texts in Charles' video were real, and that though he does not "hate" Charles, he no longer wants to participate in the drama surrounding him.
"For hours yesterday, [Charles' video} took me back to the old Jeffree. I was in a very dark place," he began.
"A lot of you have seen the vicious text messages that I sent, and I want to let you understand something: Because I said those things, that does not equal me hating James Charles."
"Today, I am not going to give the world what they want. And I don't think everyone wants this from me, but I think that there is a major portion that thinks 'Jeffree Star is going to come for James' because I was in a dark place yesterday, I said some things online about pulling receipts and showing things, and I sat there with myself… and I don't want to play the games anymore."
"I am not going to fuel this fire bigger so everyone can get more entertainment, because behind the scenes, this isn't funny."
"I inserted myself into something publicly into something I shouldn't have," he continued. "I think sometimes we slip into our old ways, and today I know what people want. They want me to sit here and degrade James; they want me to open up my phone and expose it all. I'm done doing that."
"I will not be exposing anything more. This has to stop."
"What I should have done is vented all my feelings to James."
"But guess what? I didn't. And that was my first mistake."
Star followed up these statements by saying that other people who spread rumors about Charles heavily swayed his opinion about him.
"Should I have let other people get in my head and sway my opinion of him? No. That's my problem, and I have to deal with that."
Star even addressed the tweet he posted and quickly deleted in response to Charles' brother.
Right after Westbrook uploaded her first tell-all video, Star quote tweeted a post by Charles' brother Ian and called Charles "a predator." He maintains that he jumped the gun with that tweet and regrets ever sending it.
"I did not understand what I was doing in that moment. I was fueled by sadness, by anger."
"I am done with tea, with the drama."
"I don't want to be involved in anyone's situation anymore. This was a huge wakeup call to reel me in… For me to digress and go back to Jeffree from years ago — I'm embarrassed of myself."
"I need to let go moving forward. I cannot let old me and old feelings regurgitate and bring me into a dark place. I know who I am, and this beauty community right now is suffering, and I'm really sad that everything is going on."
Star concluded that he's learned the consequences of living for the drama the hard way — and he's done with it for good.
Don't expect to hear from Star at all within the next few days — he says he's taking a break from the internet and focusing on his businesses for a while.
"On my end, I'm not taking about this anymore."
So — Star's part in this beauty soap opera is officially over, or at least he says it is. Who's next?
Westbrook, Charles, Nikita Dragun, Gabriel Zamora, ex-flings of Charles', and even a handful of celebrities have all made comments and allegations regarding this feud. It's gone so mainstream and so viral that it's the biggest beauty influencer news story since Star and Kat Von D broke up back in 2016 — that feud basically became the mold for the influencer and beauty communities we know today.
So get ready for some serious side effects.
