Kat Von D may be busy running her new family and swatting away disparaging rumors about her beauty brand, but she's not letting any of that stop her from keeping a regular rotation of new releases for loyal fans who want to eat them up.
The beauty mogul just announced the latest release due from her brand, and it's a new eye product that has never been part of her lineup before! Is anyone ready for dessert courtesy of Kat Von D Beauty? This new product is inspired by cake!
"Meet the newest member of our Liner Family — the Cake Pencil," the brand shared in a caption on Instagram.
"A super creamy vegan pencil with an intensely rich pigment, our new pencil liner is waterproof and comes in THREE shades, Trooper Black (of course), Mad Max Brown and White Out."
Kat Von D did not come to play with the eyeliner-obsessed coven this 2019!
"You've never felt an extreme long-wear pencil liner this creamy smooth and #easyascake," the brand described.
The brand also added a "#KVDBCAKE," which leads me to suspect something else about the Cake Pencil …
The Cake Pencil is likely meant to celebrate Kat Von D's birthday month!
Kat Von D's birthday is March 8, and she'll turn 37 years old!
The Cake Eyeliner is set for different March release dates all over the world.
Find your country and mark your calendar if you want to throw your very own Kat Von D birthday party with the Cake pencil.
A lot of Kat Von D Beauty loyalists are excited about this new release.
"I can’t wait for this. This year is gonna have so many amazing releases from you guys and I’m so excited," a fan wrote in the Kat Von D beauty comments.
A few fans shared that this pencil liner is something they really wanted from Kat Von D Beauty.
"I was literally JUST wishing you guys had a pencil liner in brown," a fan shared.
Kat Von D responded by saying, "We must be mind readers."
Several people asked about whether or not the Cake Liner is safe for the waterline, to which Kat Von D Beauty promptly responded.
"Can you use it on your waterline? I know they have the liquid one for the waterline but I find that too difficult to put on unless I spend ages on it," a fan inquired.
"Waterline safe," the brand answered.
This product announcement comes soon after a controversy surrounding the Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner ($20, Sephora).
Fans threatened to "cancel" her and her cosmetics brand after cracking open tubes of the Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner ($20, Sephora) and finding that the cartridge is the same length as the one inside of the mini versions available at Sephora for $10.
Rumors immediately began swirling about Kat Von D supposedly "scamming" her loyal customers out of extra cash.
The rumors got so terrible that Kat Von D had to deliver an explanation on her personal Instagram account.
"Before people start losing their minds over a recent post attacking our beloved Tattoo Liner, please read," she began the lengthy note.
"The cartridges in both full-size liners and mini liners are the same — it’s the amount of product inside each cartridge that is different," the beauty mogul wrote. "So, for example, the product fill on our full-size Tattoo Liner is 0.55 ml, while the product fill for the mini is 0.2 ml – that's over DOUBLE the amount of product!"
Unfortunately, a LOT of beauty fans still aren’t willing to support this new release.
The comments section of the Trend Mood Instagram announcement was full of negative reactions to the Cake Liner. Fans shared several different reasons why they are either boycotting the entire Kat Von D brand or not planning to buy this specific eyeliner.
Some still aren’t feeling her after she admitted that she will not vaccinate her son.
"Don't buy it. She is an #antivaxx parent," a person wrote on Twitter.
Other Kat Von D beauty fans just want her to release something besides an eyeliner.
"How many versions of eyeliner is she gonna release," a fan asked on Instagram.
"This is exactly what I was thinking," another chimed in.
To be fair about the multiple eyeliner criticisms, Kat Von D Beauty is known and loved for its eyeliners.
Kat Von D Beauty is also not the only brand to have different kinds of eyeliners in its lineup. Additionally, having different kinds of eyeliners ensures that a brand is catering to a decent chunk of its target customers' needs and preferences.
The Cake Pencil may be great for those who dislike liquid eyeliners or for people who use all different kinds and appreciate the looks they can create with a pencil.
Boycotts, controversy, and questions aside — is your body ready for the Cake Pencil?!
If you're still attending the Kat Von D party, then mark your calendars and head to your nearest Sephora to try out the product when it launches in your town.
