Kim Kardashian Addressed Rumors That She Had Ribs Removed Before The Met Gala

Kim Kardashian has something to get off her chest concerning that uncomfortably snatched waist she served at the 2019 Met Gala. If you recall, she showed up at the event wearing a "wet look" dress designed by Mugler. With a wet hairstyle, dewy makeup, and a dress that literally appeared to be dripping water — the point was to have Kardashian look like she had just stepped out of the ocean for the event's camp (outrageous, unique, attention-seeking) theme.

Despite how cool the overall concept was, all anyone could focus on was how strangely TINY her waist looked. Lots of people assumed she wore a corset to pull it off (factual), but there were also tons of rumors about Kardashian going so far as to have some of her ribs surgically removed to pull off the look to her total satisfaction.

The video of her actually trying to get into the dress had fans cringing because it looked so painful. But RIBS? Removed? Um, BIZARRE much?

This is Kardashian wearing her stunning Mugler dress.

I cannot lie. At first, I rolled my eyes at this look because it's Kardashian wearing a nude dress once again. That part isn't very original. However, this look has grown on me over time. It's actually kind of genius to take Kardashian's signature muted look, which is the furthest thing from camp, and remix it so that it suits the camp theme in this way. That was super creative and imaginative on Mugler's part. Her beauty squad also came through on the hair and makeup.

Gorgeousness aside, it was her preparation for this dress that had fans cringing.

The corset was so unforgivingly tight that the dang woman could barely sit down! Just looking at her attempting and failing to sit makes my insides shake in discomfort. Her movement was so limited that she also needed three grown men to help her slide into the actual dress. "Anna, if I don’t sit down for dinner, now you know why," she told Anna Wintour. That's not even healthy.

You can watch the fitting (or, er, the HORROR FILM?) for yourself in the video ahead.

Why does beauty have to be that hard? Kardashian would have still looked lovely without a barely-there waist. Waist trainers and corsets have been proven to be damaging to body organs, by the way. To have a corset be so tight that you cannot even sit down is just way too much.

People also assumed she had her ribs removed to be able to fit into her corset and dress.

"It’s insulting to our intelligence to pretend this is from a plant-based diet and not from getting actual ribs removed," writer Sophie Ross tweeted in response to an Us Weekly article. Ross wasn't the only person who felt this way. Several people echoed similar sentiments on Twitter. Kardashian's waist-to-butt ration was just that bizarre-looking. Meanwhile, I just can't get over the fact that Kim Kardashian actually did a plant-based diet, squeezed inside a painful corset, and sacrificed sitting, just to appear at the 2019 Met Gala and not even be best dressed.

But Kardashian had something to say about the rumors that she had ribs removed.

Kardashian wants the world to know that she's not *that* committed to looking snatched. She maintains that the rib-removal rumors are simply not true. "I don’t even know if that’s possible," she told The Wall Street Journal.

It is indeed possible, by the way.

Kardashian did go into more detail about the pain she endured while wearing the dress and how she felt afterward.

"I have never felt pain like that in my life," Kardashian told The Wall Street Journal. "I'll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach." Um, YUCK. Why even go through all of that to serve a look? She didn't have to jeopardize her organs to look nice.

Even though Kardashian shut down the rib-removal rumors, the waist-snatching efforts she did make were still unhealthy.

First of all, Kardashian's waist is already pretty small and defined. She bares her midriff all of the time, so we all know this. The overall wet-look idea was also inspired by Sophia Loren's damp maritime look in the 1957 movie Boy on a Dolphin. Loren's waist wasn't as tiny as Kardashian's looked on the red carpet. I also can't overlook that Kardashian is once again promoting a specific body standard along with the unhealthy practices she's done to uphold it.

Also, again, SHE COULD NOT SIT DOWN. No one dress should have all that power.
