Lady Gaga Is Toning Down Her Makeup To ‘Practice What I Preach’

The ever-evolving world of beauty seems to be shifting once again. It seems that every week, a different woman celebrity declares that she's done with makeup for the time being. However, I don't think any of us were expecting the historically over-the-top Lady Gaga to become one of those women.

While some argue that the au natural look is empowering, liberating, and authentic, others argue that it's another way men try to control women's narratives and expression. And though we'll never come to a mutual agreement on whether or not that's true, there's no denying that the discusison's becoming more and more prevalent.

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Gaga gave all the tea on her new, toned-down look.

Many didn't know how to feel upon discovering Bradley Cooper's stance on Lady Gaga's makeup while filming new film "A Star As Born."

Cooper, who holds the producer, director, and lead actor titles for the film, reportedly took a makeup wipe to Gaga’s face from forehead to chin during her screen test.

Well that's… Aggressive.

Gaga said she tried to sneak makeup on the set plenty of times, but Cooper wouldn't allow.

Uh, OK.

Gaga's ASIB character has given us plenty of moments to see her barefaced, but it was still shocking to when the bold superstar completely stripped down again for "The New York Times Magazine."

Freckles exposed, and bushy-browed, Gaga's no-makeup look is proving to last a lot longer than one film's press tour.

“I do keep transforming into a new shell of me,” she told NYT writer Rachel Syme.

In response to Cooper's intense disdain for makeup, Gaga didn't seem to share the sentiments of many women completely put off by the Hollywood heartthrob's stance.

"It put me right in the place I needed to be, because when my character talks about how ugly she feels — that was real,” Gaga told the Los Angeles Times.

The "Born This Way" singer, who has long been an advocate for women's empowerment, said she's trying to be an example to others.

“I’m so insecure. I like to preach, but I don’t always practice what I preach."

So should we say goodbye to the over-the-top, meat-wearing Gaga that we've come to know and love?

"Oh... I’m just shape-shifting again,” said Gaga in her cover story.

Gaga isn't the first artist to strip down their appearance.

Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys are also taking the fresh-faced approach these days.

Both ladies have said that their new looks have been liberating and helped them appreciate their natural beauty.

More power to you Gaga. If you like it, we love it!

But… A man will never take a makeup wipe to my face.

But to Cooper and others like him: Women who enjoy being done up don't need saving. We don't need men to "teach" us about self-love and vulnerability. Whether we're makeup-less or rocking a badass contour with a heavy lash, your validation doesn't matter.

Come around here with that damn makeup wipe if you want to, but it won't end well for you.
