Say it with me: It's NEVER OK to comment on people's bodies. Whether you want to say something about how much they hit the gym, what they eat, what they don't eat, and what their bodies look like, a person's body is their own business â not yours.
Sadly, it seems many people still haven't learned that lesson. UK fashion and beauty blogger Lydia Elise Millen just found herself on the receiving end of an army of health trolls who body shamed her for being too thin and looking "like a child." Luckily, she had an effective way to silence them.
The trouble started when Millen shared a photo of herself in a bathing suit.
Her comment section quickly flooded with trolls accusing her of being "too skinny," "unhealthy," and "scary."
Not OK, Instagram.
Millen took to Twitter to tell her trolls to take several seats.
"My body type is pretty much the same Iâve always been this way," she said in a caption for a side-by-side photo of herself as a 10-year-old alongside a bikini selfie.
Body shaming happens to women of every size, she clarified.
Her clapback was inspiring for many of her followers.
In short, concern trolling is never OK.
You can't judge how healthy or unhealthy someone is based on an Instagram post. Let's embrace our bodies and encourage others to do the same, instead of tearing them down.
