Penis size is a passionate — and sensitive — subject for both men and women. How small is too small? How big is big enough?
An article in Playboy by sex educator Justin Lehmiller points to a study published this past September in science journal PLOS ONE in which women in the US were asked to take a look at a number of 3D penis models and pick the one they liked the best.
For a long-term partner, the majority of women chose penises with a circumference of 4.8 inches — which is actually smaller than the average circumference of 5 inches.
For one-night stands, however, most women chose the model with the average, 5-inch circumference.
Lehmiller also points out that most women also prioritize girth over length, because the average vaginal depth is actually shorter than the length of the average penis (about 6 inches).
So I guess what we've learned is that despite the monster-sized dicks we see in porn, and despite the anxiety many men can feel over whether or not they're adequately sized enough to satisfy a woman, most women prefer dicks that are pretty average in size.
Not to mention that, for many women, the female orgasm doesn't depend on penis size. And that's the long and short of it.
