People Are Comparing Selena Gomez’s Haircut To ‘The Rachel,’ And I See It

Selena Gomez is notoriously a major Friends fan, particularly of Jennifer Aniston's Rachel Green.

On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Gomez showed up with a brand-new hairstyle that looked just like the iconic '90s shag, nicknamed after Aniston's character. Gomez's stylist Marissa Marino confirmed on Instagram that "The Rachel" was the inspiration behind the new look, as well as Goldie Hawn's famous waves from First Wives Club.

Gomez is probably thrilled at the news that Friends is getting a reunion special set to debut on HBO this May.

Gomez talked to Kelly Clarkson about all of her music endeavors and successes.

Gomez has plenty going on — a new album and makeup brand — so it makes sense that she's on the press tour circuit. With that comes a variety of styles to show off while on her press tour. The latest look was a modernized shag haircut that had everyone reminiscing about Aniston's iconic chop, "The Rachel."

Fans are obsessing over the comparison.

One superfan tweeted a few photos of the star in her interview and wrote, "Selena looked absolutely beautiful at the Kelly Clarkson show." Another replied, "That’s the Rachel hair do!!"

Gomez's hair was parted down the middle, with her bangs flared out to the side. Then she had long layers cut into her dark brunette locks. The shag style is so '90s, and we are here for the throwback.

Gomez's stylist Marissa Marino shared the inspiration behind the now-iconic look.

Not only is Gomez's look inspired by her fave Rachel Green, but also another throwback icon: Goldie Hawn. Marino wrote in an Instagram caption, "Selena on @kellyclarksonshow today! It’s a great interview so be sure to watch! Hair inspo was 'The Rachel' meets Goldie Hawn in First Wives Club."

Now that she mentioned Goldie Hawn, I see that even more!

Here's a look at Rachel Green's style.

"The Rachel" was truly the haircut of the moment, and took over during Friends' initial run. It was so popular, it was replicated by every late ’90s, early ’00s gal. Rachel Green was and always will be a fashion inspiration.

But I can also totally see the Goldie Hawn vibes.

First Wives Club, a favorite film of Ariana Grande's, is about three recent divorcées. Goldie Hawn sports a magnificent, thick wavy head of hair in the film, with similar bangs to Gomez's look. Plus, they both are rocking that middle part.

Gomez has been a longtime fan of Aniston, so this style was a natural inspiration.

When Aniston guest-hosted The Ellen Show, she interviewed quite possibly her biggest fan. Gomez admitted she was starstruck the first time she saw Aniston in a bathroom at a bougie Hollywood party. "First off, are you guys kidding me? Like, Rachel was my life!" Gomez gushed onstage.
