A 15-year-old Indiana boy will face trial as an adult in the deaths of his father and great-uncle. Jeremiah Dill allegedly shot and killed 41-year-old Grantham Chandler and 61-year-old Jeffrey Fauber at a home in Quincy on August 9, 2025. A heartbreaking 911 call alerted police to the scene. Dill left before they arrived but turned himself in a short time later.
Police arrived at the home in Owen County around 3:45 p.m. on August 9, Fox 59 reported. Authorities found Chandler and Fauber deceased at the scene. Prior to their arrival, a female called 911 to alert dispatchers about the shooter. She claimed a “15-year-old boy who just got released” shot Chandler and Fauber. She added that a car and guns both wound up missing from the home.
According to court documents obtained by WTHR, Dill arrived at the Marthasville Police Station to turn himself in. “I killed my family,” he allegedly told officers at the station. “I killed my father.”
But that wasn’t all. Dill also reportedly spoke of mental health struggles. “I’m fighting demons,” he told an officer, per the outlet “The guns are in that car that I killed him with.”
According to a woman on the scene, Dill acted “uncharacteristically helpful” and “chill” the morning of the shooting, Fox 59 reported. She added he’d also given death threats to family members. Dill reportedly left a mental health facility just two days prior to the deadly shooting. The family apparently tried to keep all firearms away from Dill, but he managed to get to them anyway.
Fauber’s obituary touted a man who loved family and the outdoors.
“Jeff worked in construction for most of his life. He was a member of the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn and enjoyed camping, woodworking and was known to be very mechanically inclined,” it reads.
Chandler loved being a father and spending his time in nature, his tribute notes.
“Adam lived most of his life in Morgan County and worked in lawncare and construction. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and most any outdoor activities,” the obituary reads. “He was raised within his mother’s faith in the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn.”
Dill faces charges as an adult but remains in juvenile custody, according to WTHR. A jury trial is set for the spring. May he receive the treatment he needs to properly fight the demons he claims plague him.
