Couple Charged With ‘Horrific Crimes’ Against Baby Police Found Nearly Dead in a Motel Room

An Ohio couple were indicted on multiple charges, including rape, in connection to crimes committed against an 11-month-old baby in November 2024. Police found the baby unconscious. Thankfully, they were able to revive her. The couple seemingly called the police to save the girl.

While the baby was getting treatment at the hospital, doctors found a large number of injuries. Some of those injuries indicated sexual assault. After questioning the couple, police arrested them both.

The couple were staying with the baby in a motel in Springfield, Ohio.

Cleveland.com reported that Springfield Township police officers and fire department workers were called to a Red Roof Inn on November 22. There were reports of an unresponsive infant in the room. According to a statement from the police, “officers performed CPR and successfully restored a pulse before the child was transported to the hospital by the fire department.

The baby had multiple serious injuries.

According to the police, the child’s father Jason Santos and his girlfriend Jamilee Hunt assaulted the baby. The news statement shared by Cleveland.com said the baby had multiple fractures of her arms, legs, and ribs, and extensive bruising all over her body. Additionally, she had injuries to her internal organs. Doctors at the hospital said the injuries were consistent with sexual assault.

Police questioned Santos and Hunt separately.

Detective John Simms told WKYC that police detained Santos and interviewed him at the police station. According to Simms, Santos “lied repeatedly about the baby’s injuries, initially blaming it on their dog before pointing the finger at his girlfriend Hunt.”

“There’s no way you can look at her and tell us you didn’t know she was injured,” Simms said. He added that Santos “still denied having anything to do with her injuries and he still hadn’t asked even how his daughter was doing. He didn’t seem to care.”

When police found Hunt, they say she also lied about the baby’s injuries. Eventually, Simms said, she blamed Santos.

The county prosecutor thanked the police.

“These were horrific crimes against a baby and my office will work hard to hold these offenders accountable,” Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich, said in a statement shared by WKYC. “I want to thank the Springfield Township first responders for their quick action that saved this child’s life, and I hope that her condition continues to improve.”
