Family of Arkansas Dad Charged With Murder Say He Killed Child Predator in Defense of Daughter

The family of an Arkansas man arrested for murder says he was protecting his child. Aaron Spencer reportedly shot and killed Michael Fosler, after he allegedly found the man inside a vehicle with his 14-year-old daughter. The family says Fosler had a no-contact order with their daughter, and when Aaron Spencer confronted him, their interaction turned deadly.

Now, Heather Spencer is trying to clear her husband’s name and raise funds for his legal defense. Heather Spencer claimed Fosler was a known child predator with ties to law enforcement, and that her husband was trying to protect his child. In the court of public opinion, it seems many believe Aaron Spencer is a hero.

The shooting occurred in the middle of the night.

According to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch sent deputies to a home on Highway 236 East, after a call about a missing juvenile. On the way to the home, deputies received a call that the father had located his missing child, and that she was with Fosler.

The two men reportedly got into a confrontation, leading Aaron Spencer to shoot and kill Fosler. Deputies arrested Aaron Spencer, and took him to the Lonoke County Detention Center. He was later charged with murder in the first degree.

The GoFundMe platform reportedly removed the fundraiser for violating terms of use by raising money for the legal defense of a violent crime. The family then created a GiveSendGo campaign.

Heather Spencer wrote that the family’s worst nightmare came true on October 8, when they realized their daughter was missing. The family called 911, and Aaron Spencer began looking for his daughter.

“By God’s never failing grace, my husband passed this man driving on our road with our minor child in the vehicle. As soon as the predator knew my husband was behind him, he ran. The chase ended in an accident. Aaron was able to retrieve our child alive, but in the process he was attacked and did what he had to do to protect himself and our minor child. He is now facing an outrageous murder 1 charge,” she wrote.

Heather Spencer thinks her husband did the right thing.

She has posted several updates about the case on Facebook. Heather Spencer noted that the family likes to keep their business private, but she felt that the public needed to know some things.

“This man had a no contact order for stalking/graping our child. We absolutely called 911 during the entire event. We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again. He was waiting 6-9 felonies for what he did, not 2. He was looking at the rest of his pathetic life in jail, and our daughter was the only witness,” she wrote.

Heather Spencer added she and her husband feared the worst the night their daughter disappeared.

“We 100% in the moment thought he had taken her to kill her. Some things we will never know, but we know that the police department afforded this predator privacy they did not give our family. Including posting our home address. I’m deeply offended by the way this was handled by the county sheriffs office,” she wrote.

Many are supporting the Spencer family.

A follower wrote on Heather Spencer’s Facebook page, “Prayers for your family. Good vs. evil, good will always prevail. Aaron’s doing was not a crime. He did what any capable father should/would have done. I salute you, sir. ‘If somebody did it to your kid, you’d do it too,’ Gary Plauche.”

Many strangers shared prayers. “I don’t know you guys, but I have young daughters. Aaron is a hero, and you guys are in my prayers,” someone wrote.

One person hopes to attract celebrity help. “I don’t know if he’ll see it but I shared yalls story with jelly roll,” one person wrote, referring to singer Jelly Roll. “He is known for helping people in these situations so I’m hoping and praying he will see the message and can reach out to yall and help.”

After family posted a $150,000 bond, Aaron Spencer is now home.

“My husband is a combat veteran, who has always protected his country and family. I have no doubt our child would have not come home if my husband hadn’t found her. Please help us keep him home with us where he belongs. Any donation is appreciated, but we will also take all the prayers we can get,” Heather Spencer wrote on the GiveSendGo.
