Dad Loses It & Threatens To ‘Air the Place Out’ After His Kid Didn’t Get To Have Snack Time at School

A Michigan dad apparently believed his child wasn’t being treated properly at school and wanted to take the situation into his own hands. David Scott Jr., 43, allegedly showed up angry at Pleasantview Elementary School on October 22, 2025. He confronted a teacher, asking why his child didn’t receive food at snack time. When the conversation didn’t go his way, Scott said some things that landed him in jail on serious charges.

Scott allegedly cursed, screamed, and threatened the teacher in front of several witnesses, according to WWJ. School staff, parents, and students witnessed the confrontation. The dad reportedly threatened to “air the place out,” which police say refers to a shooting. Eastpointe police arrived a short time later and arrested Scott.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido explained in a news release that authorities obtained a search warrant for Scott’s apartment. While inside, police reportedly found multiple rounds of ammunition. Scott faced arraignment on October 23 for charges of possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, intentional threat of violence against a school, and obscene conduct. He also has a habitual offender notice.

“There is absolutely no excuse for threatening violence against a school or its staff—especially over something as minor as a classroom snack,” Lucido shared in the news release. “Our office takes all threats to schools seriously, and we will continue to pursue charges to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and our community.”

Scott’s behavior shocked locals of this Detroit suburb, who told WWJ they didn’t understand why the father reacted the way he did.

“Your child goes here. Did you not think about what that can do to your kid?” resident Eric Haley said. “What problem or what trauma that can cause your child because their friends are here?”

Donte Byrd told the outlet he didn’t believe the story at first and wondered why Scott thought he’d get away with threatening the school.

“Thought it was crazy for something that minuscule for that type of big reaction, “Byrd said. “I thought it was a joke at first, but it’s not a joke, though.”

A judge set Scott’s bond at $150,00 cash or surety only. He also must have a mental health evaluation, per the news release. If he posts bond, he’d better get comfortable in Michigan. He’ll have to wear a GPS monitor, stay in the state, consume no alcohol or nonprescription drugs, and he can’t contact school employees or any complaining witnesses.

None of his story makes sense. Sure, we can understand a dad wanting his child to have a snack at school. But in what world would anyone think threatening to shoot up a school is the correct way to find a resolution? We hope his child has a safe place to go and better conflict-resolution skills than this dad.
