A dog attack is one of the scariest things that anyone can go through, especially a small child. Being attacked by a dog can have multiple levels of trauma for a person and those close to them, and reminds us to teach our kids to always be extra cautious with dogs. A 6-year-old girl in Ontario, California, and her family are reeling after the girl was attacked by two pit bulls while visiting family. After the attack, the girl was left needing multiple surgeries to try to correct the damage done to her body.
Of course, her family is still seeking answers about how something like this could have happened as the girl remains in the hospital in intensive care.

It was an incredibly scary situation.
Scarlett Corona was visiting her grandmother's house when the attack happened. According to her family, she was playing outside.
"I didn’t know what kind of condition, I just knew," her mother, Starr Aranda, told NBC4 Los Angeles. She had been on her way to dinner when she received the call, but quickly made her way to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. "They said, 'Get to the hospital. Your baby girl got bit by a dog.'"
Scarlett has endured so much already.
Scarlett had a severed main artery in her leg, as well as cuts on both of her legs and at least three bites on her back. Due to the nature of her injuries, she had to have reconstructive surgeries quickly.
"She’s having surgery right now," her mother told the outlet, adding that she was asking "everyone to have prayers for my baby."

She has a long road ahead of her.
According to the GoFundMe the family set up, "Scarlett was flown to a children’s trauma center and is now undergoing various surgical procedures that will be followed by months of therapy and treatments."
Her mother told NBC4 LA that she would likely be in the hospital for at least the next month. The family is asking for donations to "help with medical expenses as well as other costs her family will have to cover on her path to recovery and rehabilitation."
Scarlett is so loved by her family.
The GoFundMe explains that her dad is "working and going to school full time," while her mom is on maternity leave.
"I just had a baby two months ago and she’s the greatest big sister," Aranda explained to NBC4 LA. Scarlett is the oldest of four and "helps her mommy and daddy so much." She also shared that Scarlett is a ballet dancer who loves to help people and is "so full of life, very strong and loving."
"She’s full of life and I know she’s going to fight through this."
Scarlett's mom hopes people will learn from what happened to them.
"I wish these animals were trained properly," Aranda told the news outlet. "I want to spread awareness to anyone, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles. If you know your dogs are not safe to be around other people, lock them up."
The family is still awaiting answers about the attack, but Aranda learned that the dogs were supposed to be in a kennel but had somehow escaped.
Currently, the Ontario Police Department is investigating the attack. As of right now, it's unclear who the dogs belong to, or if the owners will face any sort of charges. It's also not clear where the dogs are now.
