A teacher from Georgia, who was indicted in October in connection with the 2020 death of a 2-year-old boy, is now in jail. Kianna Aesha Davis, 32, of Buford was wearing a Seckinger High School sweatshirt when police arrested her November 4. The former teacher, along with codefendant Kiyon Devoy Benton, faces a bevy of charges related to the death of young Karter Ambrose in 2020.
Davis and Benton allegedly brutally beat the toddler, who died from his injuries, including a lacerated liver, according to Law & Crime. Both have been charged with murder.

The incident happened in mid-November 2020.
Per court documents obtained by Law & Crime, Davis and Benton allegedly attacked Karter sometime between November 15 and 17, 2020, causing him “cruel physical pain.” The pair allegedly beat Karter with an unknown object and, even though he was visibly injured, did not pursue medical help for the toddler.
The relationship between the adults and the toddler is unclear.
The indictment did not indicate how Davis and Benton knew the toddler. According to a GoFundMe account posted in 2020, “Karter is survived by his father Kadeem Ambrose, mother, and extended family.”
The fundraiser, created by Isaac Garcia, raised $13,000 of a $15,000 goal.
“During these hard times we would like to gather together and support the family during this hard time. This will also help the family with funeral expenses. We would like to beforehand thank you for the support and love,” the description read.
Davis was working as a high school teacher at the time of her arrest.
Multiple news outlets, including 11 Alive, reported that Davis was working as a teacher at Seckinger High School in Buford. According to a letter sent to parents by Principal Jimmy Fisher, Davis had not been at school for two weeks before her arrest, and the school district had launched its own investigation.
“As is often the case in situations like this, news about this has spread among students and to social media, and I felt it important that you heard the facts from me first. Although this news may come as a surprise to you and spark questions, I want to reassure you your student is in good hands,” Fisher’s letter reads. “A substitute will continue to cover the duties of the teacher in question for the time being. As your principal, I am committed to the work we are doing to foster a safe and positive school environment and encourage our school community to come to me when you have concerns.”
News of the arrest caused outrage in the community.
After news of Davisâ arrest hit, many people flocked to social media to share their opinions on the case. TikToker @misspropertymanager shared the story and said, âThey say whatâs done in the dark will always come to light. And thatâs exactly what happened for this Gwinnett County high school teacher.â
Followers couldnât understand and wrote comments like, âBeating a 2 yr old is diabolical they are still babies and learning.â

Some hope Davis faces harsh consequences.
âMay that evil bitch burn in h—,â one person wrote.
âI wouldâve did the same thing to her,â another person commented.
