What to Know
A 23-year-old influencer from the United Kingdom faces an uncertain future following her arrest for murder in the United Arab Emirates. Brooke George reportedly met her most recent love interest on Facebook and traveled to Dubai to spend time with him.
During their first meeting, she had a wonderful time. But on a later trip, things changed dramatically. The man allegedly attacked Brooke George, and she claims she stabbed him in self-defense. Now, the young woman faces the death penalty by firing squad.
Brooke George’s mother claims the man terrorized her daughter.
Thereza George, who goes by Tess, told The Sun that her daughter called her hours before the alleged attack.
“She was petrified. Absolutely terrified. She said, ‘Mum, I just want to come home. I’m scared,’” Tess George said.
Brooke George and the man reportedly went out in Jumeirah Village, and the assault took place a short time later. She wanted to return home, so Brooke George claims she went back to the man’s apartment to get her passport. The man allegedly punched her in the face and made her fear for her life. Per The Sun, Brooke George claims she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man in self-defense.
Brooke George currently faces the death penalty.

Tess George told The Sun her daughter hasn’t had a chance to meet with a lawyer, but if she’s convicted, she could face death by firing squad. According to her mother, Brooke George has no idea what will happen next.
“They won’t tell her, they won’t converse with her, or even ask her about her safeguarding issues,” she said. “As you can imagine, she is terrified. She’s vulnerable. She doesn’t know what to do.”
Brooke George may not be getting fair treatment.
According to the website Detained in Dubai, Brooke George has received little information due to a language barrier. She’s reportedly unable to contact her embassy, and authorities allegedly forced her to make statements without an attorney present. She’s currently in the Bur Dubai Police Station, where male officers reportedly stripped her naked without a female present, causing tremendous stress and humiliation.
“Over recent years, there have been increasing reports of women, including social media influencers, models and young travelers, being lured to Dubai with promises of luxury lifestyles, paid work, holidays or romantic relationships, only to later allege that they were subjected to forced attendance at porta-potty parties, sexual exploitation, coercion, violence or other degrading treatment,” Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, shared.
“International organizations and law enforcement agencies have documented cases in which women were recruited under false pretenses for the purpose of exploitation, including trafficking.”
Stirling added that Brooke George’s family fears the man lured her to Dubai for trafficking purposes.
“We are calling for Brooke to be released on bail pending the outcome of the investigation. The UAE has a well-documented history of criminalizing and revictimizing women who report violence,” Stirling requested.
Tess George started a fundraiser to help with her daughter’s defense.
On a Just Giving page, Tess George explained that her daughter’s captivity in Dubai scares them all. The family needs help to support Brooke George’s defense and ongoing legal expenses.
“Brooke is a loving, ambitious young woman who has always embraced life with determination and believed the world was full of opportunities. Nothing ever held her back, and those who know her understand her kind heart and strong spirit,” her mother wrote.
