32-Year-Old Mom of 3 Drowns After Falling at the Beach & Getting Trapped Between Rocks

A family in England is grappling with the unpredictable nature of this world as they grieve the loss of a 32-year-old mother of three. Saffron Cole-Nottage was reportedly out with one of her children and her dog. Cole-Nottage began walking on a concrete ledge near the sea. She lost her footing and fell onto some boulders at the base of the sea wall.

After the fall, Cole-Nottage was trapped in between the rocks. Unable to move, she drowned.

An emergency response team reported to the scene in Lowestoft, a coastal town in Suffolk, England, according to the East Anglian Daily Times. The team arrived around 8 p.m. February 2 after they heard reports that a person had fallen into the sea.

Despite the presence of firefighters, police, and an air ambulance, Cole-Nottage died in front of rescuers. As the Suffolk Constabulary spokesman told People, “Police and other emergency services were in attendance in Lowestoft on Sunday at an incident in which a woman died at the scene after a fall.”

Cole-Nottage’s death is currently classified as “unexplained.” Authorities do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances that led to the fall and subsequent drowning. The coroner will prepare a file about her death. As officials work to close the case, Cole-Nottage’s family and friends have visited the spot on the esplanade to pay their tributes.

Cole-Nottage’s partner Mike Wheeler, wrote a tribute in her honor. “My darling Saff,” he wrote on a note tapped to the site of her death, per the Daily Times. “What can I really say, there are no words to express how much we will miss you. The world is so cruel and to take you in this freak horrific way will not sit well with me for the rest of my life. You will be forever missed by so many and I’m really not sure I’ll ever be the same without you. Me and the kids will love you and never forget you, until we meet again.”

According to People, a man believed to be Cole-Nottage’s father-in-law, wrote this: “Saff, my beautiful daughter-in-law, God you’re going to be missed. Your light shined bright down here and you’ll shine bright up there too – love you heaps.”

Another note, presumably from one of Cole-Nottage’s children, read, “My beautiful mummy, I love you the world.” The notes are often accompanied with floral arrangements.
