Mom Says She’s Received Mysterious Texts Claiming Missing 13-Year-Old Is Dead

The family of a teenage girl from Wisconsin desperately wants her home after authorities declared her “critically missing” on July 28, 2025. The teen, 13-year-old Jamyla Norwood, last spoke to her family around 3:30 p.m. that day, but no one has heard from her since. They fear she could be in trouble.

Jamyla’s mother told police she’d received frightening correspondence from unknown numbers around 3:50 p.m. July 30, according to Fox 6. The unidentified woman said she received text messages from multiple unknown numbers claiming her daughter was dead. The mother also said the last time she spoke to Jamyla, she heard a girl in the background threaten to beat her up and push her down the stairs.

The phone reportedly disconnected after the call, and her mother told police she didn’t speak to Jamyla again.

This is not the first time Jamyla has been “critically missing” in the last year. She disappeared on February 10 but reunited with her family a short time later, Fox 6 reported. Her family also reported her missing in October 2024.

Several people commented on WISN news anchor Blake Eason’s Facebook post regarding Jamyla’s whereabouts.

“Is she a runaway or is she missing, cause I sure think I seen a missing report on her before smh,” someone asked.

“I seen her reported missing before, hope she’s ok,” another person commented.

“She was sitting at Popeyes yesterday morning up on North avenue I gave her $5 she said her mom lives in Madison and her Dad lives on Capitol and that she was waiting on a friend to return home from with there parents; she had Red braids up under her bonnet with a two piece gray short set and her black and yellow Jordan’s I stated to call the police because she looked so young hope she is found safe,” shared a person who claimed to have seen Jamyla.

Jamyla is a Black female, 5’3″, and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She was last seen near 24th and Burleigh. She wore a pink bonnet, black T-shirt, blue jeans, and yellow and black shoes. Her mother said she does not have any money or transportation. Jamyla is believed to be on foot.
